GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Results of round 2 eliminations in Pro Modified at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals:

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 40 percent, barometer 29.90 inches, adjusted altitude 1,397 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

This is the first time Matos and King have faced each other in eliminations. King with a big starting line advantage and never trailed as he runs his quickest pass of the weekend. Matos was late on the tree, but then made a good pass in the losing effort.

Smith is 1 - 0 against Rowe in prior events. Rowe with the starting line advantage, but Smith had the lead by 330 feet and takes the win by 0.0018 seconds (approximately 8 inches). Smith his quickest pass of the weekend for the win.

Smith is 1 - 0 against Farber in prior events. There is a little staging battle as they both take their time to stage. Smith with the starting line advantage, but Farber has the difference made up by the time they go by the Christmas tree and takes the win. Farber will give up lane choice to V. Smith in the semifinal.

This is the first time Janis and Dillard have faced each other in eliminations. Janis did a great job just making the call after a huge engine explosion and fire yesterday afternoon. Dillard is out of the gate first, but Janis had the lead a 330 feet and half track and then Dillard drove back around him to take the win. Dillard will have lane choice over King in the semifinal.
