GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.178/187.31, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.903/194.55, Now #10; No Prior Run

12:29 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 40 percent, barometer 29.95 inches, adjusted altitude 1,365 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Tonglet's pass is much better than his efforts yesterday. LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.076 sec., 330ft-2.886, 660ft-4.418/159.74 mph, 1,000ft-5.755.

just .002 difference at the 60-foot timer for these two, nice top end charge by Phillips.

Right Lane: James Surber Runs 7.048/190.59, Now #16; No Prior Run

Both crews at the starting line were hoping for more.

DeSantis is the only bike in the field still in the sevens, but it probably won't last till the end of the round.

Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 6.910/191.00, Now #13; No Prior Run

That makes it an all six second field - Jim Underdahl's incremental times: 60ft-1.095 sec., 330ft-2.898, 660ft-4.435/159.10 mph, 1,000ft-5.785.
Chip Ellis' incremental times: 60ft-1.056 sec., 330ft-2.855, 660ft-4.389/159.32 mph, 1,000ft-5.741.

Nice and smooth pass for Johnson.- A career best, and it may be the quickest pass ever for a Suzuki in Pro Stock Bike.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.806/196.24, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.831/194.55, Was #4
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.869/194.77, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.836/194.66, Was #5

Great number for Arana Jr, he moves back ahead of his dad on the ladder.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.843/196.79, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.804/197.28, Was #1
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.805/196.39, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.817/195.22, Was #3

Hector leaned over the left side for a bit - and then said "Not so fast son" - and moves back ahead of his son for the number two spot. 12:45 p.m.
