GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 7.342/84.31, Now #20; Best prior run: 14.443/43.59, Was #23

Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 29.92 inches, adjusted altitude 1,424 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Dakin is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle.

Left Lane: Stig Neergaard Runs 4.559/175.05, Now #7; Best prior run: 12.757/53.35, Was #23
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.862/318.69, Now #3; Best prior run: 9.207/71.46, Was #22

Neergaard's engine lets go with a big fireball just before 330 feet, but still gets in the show for now. Grubnic launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number three spot. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.194, 660ft-3.104/278.81 mph.

Left Lane: Ike Maier Runs 7.823/88.45, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.700/83.46, Was #23
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.885/318.24, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.769/90.95, Was #20

Maier is up in smoke right off the starting line and pedals it but is back up in smoke. Dixon with a real nice pass until in the lights where the car was real loose and was skating around. Dixon goes to the number four spot. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.189, 660ft-3.121/276.46 mph.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.839/319.75, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.856/89.70, Was #21
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 4.463/184.57, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.734/112.23, Was #19

Torrence starts to haze the tires just before half track and clicks it off. He still gets in the show for now. Vandergriff with a good clean pass straight down the groove. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.848 sec., 330ft-2.167, 660ft-3.079/277.77 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 6.188/110.37, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.493/104.29, Was #21
Right Lane: Tim Cullinan Runs 3.914/308.78, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.575/118.66, Was #18

Bernstein is up in smoke by 200 feet and clicked it off and he will go into Saturday with no time. Cullinan launched hard and keep it hooked up and in the groove to get into the top half of the show. Tim Cullinan's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.194, 660ft-3.129/270.86 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 6.817/93.61, Now #20; Best prior run: 5.653/118.12, Was #20
Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 6.464/95.99, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.306/128.75, Was #17

McMillen is up in smoke early and clicked it off. Force starts to haze the tires and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 3.942/284.27, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.603/115.90, Was #19
Right Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 4.814/149.58, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.936/143.76, Was #16

alBalooshi started to haze the tires just past 330 feet and clicked it off. Pruett was on a nice pass until right on the top end when the car started to move around. She keeps it her lane and puts it in the show. Leah Pruett's incremental times: 60ft-0.867 sec., 330ft-2.196, 660ft-3.132/268.28 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.812/321.88, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.533/121.72, Was #19
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.836/320.81, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.852/148.51, Was #16

The was the best side-by-side drag race of the day. Brown launches hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number one spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.154, 660ft-3.059/281.01 mph. Millican was right there with Brow to go to the number four spot.

Left Lane: Sidnei Frigo Runs 3.877/314.75, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.894/149.02, Was #18
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.802/324.59, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.605/162.18, Was #15

Frigo with a real nice pass to get in the show. Sidnei Frigo's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.196, 660ft-3.112/278.23 mph. Langdon launched hard and was on a real nice pass until right in the lights where the car moved out of the groove. He stays with to get the No. 1 spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.839 sec., 330ft-2.147, 660ft-3.054/281.83 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.801/325.85, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.841/149.90, Was #18
Right Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 3.909/309.27, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.967/252.76, Was #13

Kalitta with a great looking pass to go to the number one spot. The car was straight down the groove. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.831 sec., 330ft-2.150, 660ft-3.054/282.30 mph. Zizzo get the car to stay hooked up and he gets in the show. T.J. Zizzo's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.181, 660ft-3.124/269.94 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.849/321.65, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.314/186.56, Was #15
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.834/322.73, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.821/322.65, Was #4

this was a great side-by-side drag race with Massey running the fourth quickest pass of the round. He slowed from his earlier time, but he one of the few drivers to make two good clean passes. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.163, 660ft-3.080/278.40 mph. Schumacher with a nice pass to get in the show. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.172, 660ft-3.093/278.12 mph.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 6.327/109.60, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.832/320.28, Was #5

Lucas is up smoke by 300 feet and clicked it off...he will stay in the number five spot. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.380, 660ft-4.238/115.37 mph.
