GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Redell Harris No Time, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.176/187.81, Was #21
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 8.671/108.21, Now #22; No Prior Run

3:44 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 42.00 inches, adjusted altitude 2,996 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.



Harris left way too soon, and got no time slip, Phillips sat up pretty early on his bid, the reason not clear from here.

John Hall is currently in the 12th spot with a 6.935, the minimum these two riders are shooting for...

Nice runs, but not quick enough to get into the top 12.

Left Lane: Katie Sullivan Runs 6.941/192.06, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.016/189.87, Was #17
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.039/189.95, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.155/183.10, Was #20

Sullivan improves - Katie Sullivan's incremental times: 60ft-1.080 sec., 330ft-2.892, 660ft-4.434/158.78 mph, 1,000ft-5.782. So does DeSantis - Joe DeSantis' incremental times: 60ft-1.111 sec., 330ft-2.949, 660ft-4.498/157.34 mph, 1,000ft-5.864.

Left Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.025/192.69, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.008/188.20, Was #17
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 9.083/92.96, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.958/187.00, Was #15

Tonglet was unable to shift into a higher gear during his pass, Underdahl slows by ..02.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec No Time, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.986/185.72, Was #16
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 6.982/191.00, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.945/186.87, Was #14

Krawiec, last years winner was pushed back after the burnout, so Ellis will have a single, and Eddie will be busy trying to get into the field tomorrow.

Like a few others Ellis slows by about .04...

Hall vaults into the top half of the field, Johnson's run is the fastest in mph so far today. Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.066 sec., 330ft-2.870, 660ft-4.395/161.00 mph, 1,000ft-5.724.
John Hall's incremental times: 60ft-1.064 sec., 330ft-2.850, 660ft-4.363/161.54 mph, 1,000ft-5.692.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.067/195.42, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.918/190.35, Was #11
Right Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.966/193.13, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.918/188.86, Was #12



Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.868/195.08, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.915/193.90, Was #9
Right Lane: Adam Arana Runs 6.926/195.08, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.917/193.77, Was #10

Arana's team has to run up to the starting line to refire his motorcycle - he then had a couple of big wiggles during the run. Ray's run was smooth all the way to the stripe.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 6.860/195.17, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.891/190.19, Was #9
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.836/194.66, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.885/190.62, Was #8

Nice pass for Hines - Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.046 sec., 330ft-2.833, 660ft-4.355/160.38 mph, 1,000ft-5.688.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.804/197.28, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.849/193.96, Was #5
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.933/188.78, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.871/190.35, Was #9

Pollacheck had to lean off the left side of his bike most of the way, he had a good view of Smith running the quickest pass so far today. Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.052 sec., 330ft-2.829, 660ft-4.342/161.44 mph, 1,000ft-5.668.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.849/195.82, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.831/194.55, Was #2
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.817/195.22, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.832/192.25, Was #3

Arana Senior moves ahead of Arana Jr... He came close, but just missed the top spot. So we end Friday's action with Matt Smith in the number one spot with a 6.804, and Angie Smith held onto the 12th spot with a 6.918. 4:02 p.m.
