Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Stig Neergaard Runs 12.757/53.35, Now #1

he is up in smoke as soon as he hits the throttle and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Chris Karamesines Runs 3.934/286.07, Now #1
Right Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 14.443/43.59, Now #3

Dakin is up in smoke right at the hit and clicked it off. Karamesines was on a good pass and the the engine went away with a quick fireball and he pitched the blower belt off the car. the word from the top end is there is oil in Karamesines lane.

Left Lane: Tim Cullinan Runs 5.575/118.66, Now #2
Right Lane: Ike Maier Runs 7.700/83.46, Now #3

Maier starts to shake and then smokes the tires before he clicks it off. Cullinan appears to push out a head gasket with a quick flash of flame early in the run and clicks it off.

Left Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 3.967/252.76, Now #2
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 5.653/118.12, Now #4

McMillen is up in smoke early in the run and clicks it off. Zizzo with a nice pass, but clicks it off early.

Left Lane: Brittany Force Runs 5.306/128.75, Now #4
Right Lane: Sidnei Frigo Runs 4.894/149.02, Now #3

They both start to haze the tires right before 330 feet...

Left Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 5.734/112.23, Now #7
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 6.856/89.70, Now #8

Vandergriff start to lose traction first and was followed by Torrence up in smoke.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.852/148.51, Now #3
Right Lane: Leah Pruett Runs 5.603/115.90, Now #7

Pruett start to lose traction right before the 330-foot mark and Millican just past the 330-foot mark.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 6.769/90.95, Now #11
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 6.493/104.29, Now #10

Both cars start to haze the tires early and click them off.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.821/322.65, Now #1
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.841/149.90, Now #4

Massey launched and was able to negotiate the tricky part of the track and makes a real nice pass to go to the number one spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.150, 660ft-3.066/279.04 mph. Kalitta was up in smoke by half track and clicked it off.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 9.207/71.46, Now #17
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.832/320.28, Now #2

Grubnic is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Lucas with a real nice pass as he gets down the right lane to the number two spot. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.163, 660ft-3.077/279.61 mph.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 4.936/143.76, Now #8
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 5.533/121.72, Now #10

Brown starts to haze the tires early and clicks it off. alBalooshi loses traction just past the 330-foot mark.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 4.605/162.18, Now #6
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.314/186.56, Now #5

Langdon is up in smoke early and Schumacher makes a little farther down track before he is up in smoke.
