Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #1

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 44th annual Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.088/189.84, Now #1

12:34 p.m. With all the rule changes during the off season, this first round of Pro Stock Bike should be interesting. There are sunny skies - Weather conditions: air temperature 70 degrees, relative humidity 32 percent, barometer 30.07 inches, adjusted altitude 908 feet, track temperature 89 degrees.



Nice first pass for Camarena, complete with a 1.150 60-foot time.


Left Lane: Adam Arana Runs 6.917/193.77, Now #1
Right Lane: Katie Sullivan Runs 7.016/189.87, Now #2

Adam is making his Mello Yello Pro Stock Bike debut - the 3rd member of the family to run in the category. He cards the first six of the day in the class. Adam Arana's incremental times: 60ft-1.066 sec., 330ft-2.882, 660ft-4.418/159.63 mph, 1,000ft-5.762.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.155/183.10, Now #4
Right Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.176/187.81, Now #5

Harris moved around quite a bit off the starting line.

Left Lane: James Surber Runs 7.173/186.67, Now #6
Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.008/188.20, Now #2



Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 6.918/188.86, Now #3
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 6.891/190.19, Now #1

Nice pass for Berry - right down broadway. Mike Berry's incremental times: 60ft-1.060 sec., 330ft-2.842, 660ft-4.371/159.72 mph, 1,000ft-5.720.

Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 6.945/186.87, Now #5
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.931/193.35, Now #4

Steve leaned over toward the left briefly, then centered back up the rest of the way.

Left Lane: John Hall Runs 6.935/192.80, Now #6
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 6.918/190.35, Now #3



Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.958/187.00, Now #9
Right Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.915/193.90, Now #2

Ray drifted over toward the centerline during the run. His speed his the fastest so far this round.Michael Ray's incremental times: 60ft-1.090 sec., 330ft-2.892, 660ft-4.423/160.19 mph, 1,000ft-5.762.

Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.849/193.96, Now #1

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.068 sec., 330ft-2.851, 660ft-4.366/161.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.699.

Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.831/194.55, Now #1

Hector Senior's crew had to refire his bike in the waterbox... Junior won bragging rights over his dad, and claims the top of the heap - Hector Arana Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.055 sec., 330ft-2.827, 660ft-4.343/160.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.682.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.885/190.62, Now #5
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.986/185.72, Now #15

Thirteen bikes in the six second zone already... Make that fifteen. Conditions were great for this session of Pro Stock Bike. 12:51 p.m.
