By David Gerard

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Notes from final, round 2 qualifying in Nostalgia Top Fuel at the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series 2013, 55th Annual March Meet listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Bill Dunlap Runs 7.087/129.32, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.068/211.49, Was #6
Right Lane: Jim Murphy Runs 6.160/180.24, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.097/184.80, Was #7

6:35 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 61 degrees, relative humidity 62 percent, barometer 29.55 inches, adjusted altitude 760 feet, track temperature 59 degrees.

Field not filled, no bump spot. Both cars are at the middle of the current field.

They leave close together and are just 0.001 different at sixty feet. Murphy stays close to right at the 660 lights, where Dunlap's' header flames go down. Murphy stays on the power until near the 1000 foot lights, where is engine goes silent too.

No improvement for either car.

Left Lane: Ron August Jr. Runs 8.588/100.55, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.202/226.16, Was #8
Right Lane: Rick White Runs 6.394/255.15, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.738/258.42, Was #3

They leave close together and have similar numbers until right after the sixty foot lights. August is stronger to the 330, but is spinning the tires right after that.

White pumps the throttle and runs further on down the track before clicking it early.

Left Lane: Rick Williamson Runs 14.470/69.85, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.930/213.94, Was #5

Williamson will get a single, but has way too much power for the track. He spins the tires right off the line and clicks it off. No joy here!

Left Lane: Adam Sorokin Runs 17.624/70.44, Now #12; Best prior run: 13.807/81.77, Was #12

Sorokin will make a single.

Major tune up issue at the green and the tires are spinning hard at the green.

Left Lane: Tony Bartone Runs 13.642/61.68, Now #11; Best prior run: 11.757/60.73, Was #11

Barton car is reported to have had drive line problems in his first attempt. It's traction problems, this time and he is off the throttle after a 0.989 sixty foot time.

6:52 p.m. Jim Young is number one at 5.687 and the field not filled, no bump spot.
