Pro Nitrous Qualifying Notes, Session #2
By Larry Sullivan

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Nitrous at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, Dragpalooza IX listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Randy Weatherford Runs 9.356/46.11, Now #10; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Steve Jackson Runs 3.840/193.71, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.828/193.54, Was #1

1:52 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 63 degrees, relative humidity 32 percent, barometer 29.76 inches, adjusted altitude 821 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.

Weatherford launched, shook, backfired and started coasting. Jackson had visible flames from the headers, making a strong effort, but failed to improve his ET. He did boost the Top Speed of the Meet up a few notches, however.

Left Lane: Danny Perry Runs 3.961/189.95, Now #5; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Jason Harris Runs 3.915/185.51, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.100/116.58, Was #5

Perry, like Weatherford, did not make a run in the first session. He made up for it with a nice run here to move into the top half of the field with career-bests for speed and ET. Harris also made a strong statement, his car threatening to cross the centerline for much of the run. He fought it all the way and also ran a career-best ET and speed.

Left Lane: John Hall Runs 5.768/82.76, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.934/192.44, Was #4
Right Lane: John Vergotz Runs 4.066/181.45, Now #7; No Prior Run

Hall shook and slowed. Vergotz made a full pass to get in the top half of the field.

Left Lane: Tommy Franklin Runs 5.375/86.54, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.293/93.69, Was #9
Right Lane: Jim Laurita Runs 3.860/195.73, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.108/97.39, Was #8

Laurita's car made a hard move to the left on the launch and he drove it the rest of the way to the left of the groove to move into the #2 spot. Franklin (stop me if you've heard this before) shook and slowed.

Left Lane: Pat Stoken Runs 4.183/138.31, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.389/85.81, Was #10
Right Lane: Travis Harvey Runs 4.306/133.26, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.019/183.84, Was #7

Stoken had a strong launch and a strong run to 330 feet, but he sowed before the stripe. Harvey shook after a fairly good launch.

Left Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 6.283/74.75, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.933/192.14, Was #4
Right Lane: John Decerbo Runs 4.080/178.50, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.248/81.76, Was #11

Both cars headed for the centerline on the launch. Castellana shut it off. Decerbo pedaled and continued. It wasn't pretty, but it got him a little higher on the qualifying list.
