ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Aeromotive Fuel Systems Pro Mod at the 2013 ADRL Tour presented by Speedtech, Dragpalooza IX listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Doug Winters Runs 6.906/117.87, Now #1
10:06 a.m. Sporting his new Lucas Oil livery, Winters overpowered the launch pad.
Weather conditions: air temperature 62 degrees, relative humidity 31 percent, barometer 29.82 inches, adjusted altitude 647 feet, track temperature 71 degrees.
Left Lane: Adam Flamholc Runs 4.037/188.94, Now #1
Right Lane: James W. Linton Jr. Runs 4.245/160.12, Now #2
Nice opening pass for Flamholc - he's used to running in cool conditions. Linton had a lot of tire spin on the launch, had to backpedal.
Left Lane: Shannon Jenkins Runs 4.287/157.98, Now #4
Right Lane: Kenny Lang Runs 4.236/197.08, Now #2
Both cars had early tire shake. Lang got it hooked back up, ran a career-best speed.
Left Lane: Clint Satterfield Runs 8.198/70.70, Now #6
Satterfield spun the tires, pedaled, spun again and lifted.
For those who are wondering...the left-side stands here are about 80 percent full, the right-side about 40 percent.
Right Lane: Rod Houck Runs 4.380/184.47, Now #5
Houck shook, pedaled, and finished the run.
Left Lane: Pete Farber Runs 8.028/76.70, Now #8
Right Lane: Raymond Matos Runs 4.036/186.30, Now #1
Farber got up on the tires, then smoked the tires. Matos made a solid first pass to grab the #1 spot and the Puerto Rican crew reacted like they'd just scored a soccer goal;.
Left Lane: David Hance Runs 4.596/133.45, Now #8
Right Lane: Larry Higginbottham Runs 4.204/165.31, Now #3
'57 Bel Airs, a pair. Hance waited for Higgenbottham to get to the stripe before launching, lifted early (looked like a planned half-pass). Higginbotham's car danced around a bit early in the run.
Left Lane: Todd Howard Runs 6.369/73.13, Now #10
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 3.972/192.71, Now #1
Howard made a strong charge for about 100 feet, the front wheels up, then the Mustang made a hard right turn and he had to lift. Meanwhile, "Tricky Ricky" showed his tuning skills with a nice-looking run and the #1 spot.
Right Lane: Kevin Rivenbark Runs 3.964/176.01, Now #1
Rivenbark made the best run so far, straight and no pedal job. It's also his first pass in ADRL Pro Modified competition.
Right Lane: T.J. Tindle Runs 4.016/184.93, Now #3
This was Tindle's final licensing pass and some of the ADRL's best were standing by the car for the run. It was a keeper - third-best of the round.
