Funny Car Round 3 Eliminations

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Results of round 3 eliminations in Funny Car at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 29th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals:

Both pairs of cars in this round will be a Ford vs. Dodge matchup. Capps is 24 - 14 against Wilkerson in prior events.

Capps' car has run 4.061 and 4.059 in the first two rounds and picks up the pace with a stout 4.037, just missing low ET. It's a picture perfect pass with a big speed to match.

Wilkerson's tires were up in smoke hard at the green and his day was over.

Ron Capps' incremental times: 60ft-0.885 sec., 330ft-2.299, 660ft-3.263/268.65 mph.

Force is 7 - 4 against Hagan in prior events.

Force's Mustang like the left lane and keep the tires stuck going down the track.

Hagan is just 0.002 behind Force at the green, but is out in front before the sixty foot lights and stays there for a decisive win.

He gives up lane choice to Capps in the final round.

Matt Hagan's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(0.054), 330 ft(0.077), 660ft(0.064). MOV: 0.0546 seconds (approximately 25 feet).

John Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.946 sec., 330ft-2.372, 660ft-3.332/269.13 mph.
