Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 29th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Mark Wolfe Runs 6.692/206.80, Now #18; Best prior run: 13.172/76.60, Was #19

Weather conditions: air temperature 65 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 28.82 inches, adjusted altitude 1,990 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

Wolfe gets down the track, and moves up the ladder one spot. He will start tomorrow with no-time.


Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.605/209.49, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.622/210.24, Was #16
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.747/206.83, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.048/207.82, Was #19

WJ improves, but not enough and he will start tomorrow with no-time. Kurt Johnson improves, but like his father not enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.627/209.30, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.588/210.50, Was #14
Right Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 6.648/209.43, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.625/208.68, Was #17

Morgan launched with the front end in the air and made a move toward the wall, he stayed with it, but will not improve. No help here for Kramer.

Left Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.590/210.70, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.586/211.73, Was #13
Right Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.584/210.21, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.600/209.43, Was #15

Kent improves, but will not get in the show. Hartford will not improve and then is late with the chutes and he misses the turnoff and drive the last turnout...

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.614/209.72, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.578/210.70, Was #9
Right Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.597/210.90, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.582/210.57, Was #12

Brogdon with the quickest short time of the round, but gave it back on the top end and he will not improve. McGaha will not improve and he too misses the turnoff and has to take the final emergency turnout.

Left Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.555/211.13, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.575/210.90, Was #8
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.561/210.73, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.580/209.95, Was #11

This was a great side-by-side drag race with Stanfield having the quickest 60-foot time of the session and the second quickest od the round. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.736, 660ft-4.214/166.72 mph, 1,000ft-5.485. Nobile with the second quickest 60-foot time and he runs the quickest pass of the round. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.747, 660ft-4.219/167.26 mph, 1,000ft-5.484.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.554/211.66, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.554/211.83, Was #5
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.568/210.57, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.579/210.11, Was #11

Johnson matches his pass from earlier today and that is the quickest pass of the round. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.754, 660ft-4.224/167.53 mph, 1,000ft-5.486. Gray improves and moves up the ladder one spot. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.747, 660ft-4.221/166.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.492.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.535/212.56, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.544/213.03, Was #3
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.536/212.56, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.557/211.69, Was #8

It appears the Summit team cars are set up the same as the they are side-by-side all the way down the 1320. They both improve, but Line will stay in the number three spot. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.745, 660ft-4.211/168.14 mph, 1,000ft-5.471. Anderson's team moved him over just a little bit as he was staging him and he moves up right behind his teammate. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.738, 660ft-4.205/167.74 mph, 1,000ft-5.468. The Summit teammates with the quickest passes of the round.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.546/211.76, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.529/212.63, Was #2
Right Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.567/211.93, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.555/211.86, Was #7

No help here for either driver...V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.749, 660ft-4.217/167.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.479.
Erica Enders-Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.762, 660ft-4.233/167.59 mph, 1,000ft-5.497.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.506/212.93, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.498/213.13, Was #1
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.544/211.36, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.546/211.26, Was #5

Coughlin improves on his earlier time and he will stay in the number five spot. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.740, 660ft-4.209/167.53 mph, 1,000ft-5.474. Edwards launched hard and keep it hooked up to run the quickest pass of the round. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.730, 660ft-4.188/168.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.444.
