CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 29th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Mark Wolfe Runs 13.172/76.60, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 65 degrees, relative humidity 25 percent, barometer 28.85 inches, adjusted altitude 1,993 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.

Wolfe with violent tire as soon as they let the clutch out and pushed the clutch back in.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 7.048/207.82, Now #2
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.588/210.50, Now #1

Johnson drove through violent tire shake to get a number on the board. Morgan with a nice pass after struggling last week in Pomona. Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.761, 660ft-4.239/166.03 mph, 1,000ft-5.512.

Left Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 6.625/208.68, Now #3
Right Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.586/211.73, Now #1

Kramer with a good short time, but then gave some of back on the top end. Hartford with a nice pass...Matt Hartford's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.772, 660ft-4.248/166.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.515.

Left Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.600/209.43, Now #4
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.578/210.70, Now #1

Brogdon with the quickest 60-foot time of the session and he parlayed that in the number one spot. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.757, 660ft-4.233/166.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.504. Kent with a good pass. Steve Kent's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.768, 660ft-4.247/166.48 mph, 1,000ft-5.521.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.557/211.69, Now #2
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.544/213.03, Now #1

A couple good passes for the Summit team to go to the number one and two spot. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.758, 660ft-4.225/167.72 mph, 1,000ft-5.489.
Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.753, 660ft-4.220/167.80 mph, 1,000ft-5.480. Line sets the track speed record on this pass.

Left Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.555/211.86, Now #3
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.498/213.13, Now #1

Edwards launched hard and keep it hooked up to get both ends of the track record. Erica Enders-Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.762, 660ft-4.227/168.16 mph, 1,000ft-5.488.
Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.726, 660ft-4.183/168.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.437. Enders with a real nice pass to go to the number three spot. Erica Enders-Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.762, 660ft-4.227/168.16 mph, 1,000ft-5.488.

Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.582/210.57, Now #6
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.622/210.24, Now #10

McGaha with a nice pass to start the weekend to get into the top half of the show. Chris McGaha's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.240/166.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.509. Johnson was slow right at the hit, but gets in the show for now.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.579/210.11, Now #7
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.554/211.83, Now #3

Gray with problems at the end of the burnout, can't get the car in reverse, but he gets pushed back to the starting line and pulls it up to the starting line. Gray with a good pass to get in the show. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.755, 660ft-4.232/167.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.502. Johnson with a real nice pass to move to the number three spot.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.580/209.95, Now #9
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.529/212.63, Now #2

Gaines launched hard with a real nice pass to go up to the number two spot. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.739, 660ft-4.205/168.05 mph, 1,000ft-5.465. Stanfield gets in the show...Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.750, 660ft-4.230/166.33 mph, 1,000ft-5.503.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.546/211.26, Now #4
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.575/210.90, Now #8

The teammates with identical 60-foot times and Coughlin goes to the number four spot. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.744, 660ft-4.213/167.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.476. Nobile gets in the show at the number eight spot. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.755, 660ft-4.232/166.56 mph, 1,000ft-5.501.
