Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #3

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 53rd annual O'Reilly NHRA Winternationals presented by Super Start Batteries listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 18.345/45.91, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.612/209.04, Was #12

Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 20 percent, barometer 29.02 inches, adjusted altitude 2,326 feet, track temperature 97 degrees.

McGaha with a lot of tire shake right at the hit and made a quick move toward the wall before he clicked it off.


Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.572/210.97, Now #6; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.601/211.06, Now #10; No Prior Run

Both of these guys after having severe tire shake the first two days make good clean passes to get in the show. Coughlin jumps up into the top half of the show. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.762, 660ft-4.235/167.07 mph, 1,000ft-5.503. Johnson gets into the show at the number 10 spot. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.004 sec., 330ft-2.788, 660ft-4.264/167.14 mph, 1,000ft-5.533.

Left Lane: Mark Wolfe Runs 6.653/206.70, Now #15; No Prior Run
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 11.984/72.98, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.538/211.49, Was #2

Gaines shook the tires as soon as he let the clutch out and clicked it off. Wolfe with his quickest pass of the weekend to get in the show. Mark Wolfe's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.774, 660ft-4.269/164.37 mph, 1,000ft-5.563.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.600/209.95, Now #11; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.599/210.60, Now #10; No Prior Run

this was a good side-by-side drag race and they both get in the show. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.771, 660ft-4.251/166.62 mph, 1,000ft-5.526.
Matt Hartford's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.776, 660ft-4.256/166.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.528.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 7.019/161.13, Now #18; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 7.112/160.75, Now #19; No Prior Run

Morgan is real loose as soon as he launched and clicked it off. Warren appeared to be on a good pass, but then pushed in the clutch just past half track.

Left Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.594/208.97, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.606/208.30, Was #13
Right Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 6.628/209.69, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.611/209.01, Was #15

Kent with his quickest pass of the weekend and moves up the ladder right behind his teammate. Steve Kent's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.763, 660ft-4.241/166.58 mph, 1,000ft-5.517. Kramer slows from his earlier qualifying time. Deric Kramer's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.788, 660ft-4.275/166.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.553.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.582/210.11, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.585/209.30, Was #8
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.602/210.08, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.607/209.20, Was #14

Stanfield with his quickest pass of the weekend, but will stay in the number eight spot. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.755, 660ft-4.234/166.62 mph, 1,000ft-5.508. Johnson with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he too will not move up the ladder. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.257/166.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.530.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.588/212.16, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.541/212.43, Was #4
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.618/210.97, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.580/210.64, Was #7

Line made a quick move toward the centerline, but reeled it in, he didn't improve. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.787, 660ft-4.258/167.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.524. Anderson with a wiggle and he will not improve...Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.797, 660ft-4.277/167.12 mph, 1,000ft-5.549.

Left Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.564/211.83, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.539/212.23, Was #3
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.577/210.31, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.590/209.33, Was #9

Enders-Stevens spun the tires early, but she drove through it and still runs the quickest pass of the round. She will not improve...Brogdon with his quickest pass weekend to move into the top half of the show. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.756, 660ft-4.233/166.93 mph, 1,000ft-5.506.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 21.475/31.88, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.528/212.39, Was #1
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.551/211.46, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.567/210.67, Was #5

Edwards with a lot of tire shake as soon as he lets the clutch out, and pushes it right back in. Nobile launched hard and was straight down the groove with the quickest pass of the round. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.749, 660ft-4.219/167.59 mph, 1,000ft-5.485.
