Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #1

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, 53rd annual O'Reilly NHRA Winternationals presented by Super Start Batteries listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 6.632/209.79, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 28.97 inches, adjusted altitude 2,271 feet, track temperature 98 degrees.

Hartford with a real nice pass to start the Pro Stock season. Matt Hartford's incremental times: 60ft-1.010 sec., 330ft-2.796, 660ft-4.279/166.23 mph, 1,000ft-5.557.


Left Lane: Mark Wolfe Runs 11.378/78.95, Now #3
Right Lane: Deric Kramer Runs 6.635/207.94, Now #2

Wolfe rattled the tires right at the hit and pushed in the clutch. Kramer was straight down the groove.

Left Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.611/208.84, Now #1
Right Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.612/209.04, Now #2

McGaha made a move toward the centerline, but he reeled it back in the groove to go to the number two spot right behind Kent. Kent was straight down the groove with a good pass. Steve Kent's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.768, 660ft-4.251/166.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.531.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.585/209.30, Now #1
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.621/209.65, Now #4

Stanfield with a great looking pass to go to the number one spot...Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.752, 660ft-4.233/166.27 mph, 1,000ft-5.509. Johnson with good pass.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.619/208.36, Now #5
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.619/209.10, Now #4

These two were side-by-side all the way down the track...Brogdon gets the higher position based on his faster speed. Warren Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.770, 660ft-4.259/165.60 mph, 1,000ft-5.539.
Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-1.003 sec., 330ft-2.785, 660ft-4.264/166.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.541.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.614/209.69, Now #4
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.617/208.71, Now #5

Gray with a little wiggle right at the hit, but stayed with it to go to the number four spot. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.778, 660ft-4.260/166.60 mph, 1,000ft-5.537. Morgan was right there with him to go to the number five spot. Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.776, 660ft-4.258/166.52 mph, 1,000ft-5.538.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 12.335/95.75, Now #13
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.538/211.49, Now #1

Coughlin was real loose right at the hit and pushed the clutch right back in. Gaines launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.746, 660ft-4.212/168.05 mph, 1,000ft-5.474.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.545/212.26, Now #2
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.580/210.64, Now #3

Edwards with a nice pass to go to the number two spot...Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.754, 660ft-4.219/168.20 mph, 1,000ft-5.482. Anderson goes to the number three spot. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.768, 660ft-4.240/167.53 mph, 1,000ft-5.510.

Left Lane: Erica Enders-Stevens Runs 6.555/211.66, Now #3
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.579/210.57, Now #4

Enders-Stevens made a quick move toward the centerline, but reeled in back into the groove and goes to the number three spot. Erica Enders-Stevens' incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.758, 660ft-4.225/168.03 mph, 1,000ft-5.489. Nobile goes to the number four spot with a nice pass. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.241/167.22 mph, 1,000ft-5.510.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.541/212.43, Now #2
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 13.855/63.06, Now #19

Johnson shook early and pushed in the clutch. Line is straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.750, 660ft-4.215/168.43 mph, 1,000ft-5.478.
