Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #3

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 48th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Kieth Burley Runs 7.089/183.72, Now #13; No Prior Run

11:10 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 64 degrees, relative humidity 34 percent, barometer 28.93 inches, adjusted altitude 1,672 feet, track temperature 80 degrees.

Burley slows from yesterday, but is temporarily in the field.


Left Lane: Katie Sullivan Runs 7.001/186.36, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Rhett Lougheed Runs 7.229/176.51, Now #15; No Prior Run

Both bikes improve from yesterday to get into the field for now.

Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.155/183.69, Now #16; No Prior Run
Right Lane: James Surber Runs 6.991/189.92, Now #13; No Prior Run

Surber gets his first six second pass with a new career best speed to move into the #13 spot.

Harris will give us our first sixteen bike bump spot, but slows from yesterday.

Left Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.158/188.67, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.255/170.90, Now #19; No Prior Run

Both bikes are slower than earlier.

Left Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 6.971/194.21, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.114/185.36, Now #17; No Prior Run

Guidera is just a little quicker, but won't make the field.

Underdahl is much quicker and does.

Jim Underdahl's incremental times: 60ft-1.121 sec., 330ft-2.942, 660ft-4.476/159.08 mph, 1,000ft-5.820.

Left Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.003/191.87, Now #16; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.026/188.81, Now #17; No Prior Run

Kieth Burley is on the bump spot at 7.089.

Both bikes improve and only Tonglet gets in on the bump.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.128/171.05, Now #20; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.955/190.06, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.952/188.44, Was #12

Ray was in the field already and slows a little.

Phillips slows a lot from yesterday and will have only one more chance latter.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.462/191.48, Now #25; No Prior Run
Right Lane: John Hall Runs 6.931/187.83, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.931/190.78, Was #11

Gann's bike is not happy off the line and he won't qualify.

Hall runs right on his prior best to the thousandth, but just a little slower to stay #11.

John Hall's incremental times: 60ft-1.049 sec., 330ft-2.847, 660ft-4.386/157.96 mph, 1,000ft-5.748.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.895/192.74, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.927/193.07, Was #10
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 6.892/194.04, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.924/192.06, Was #9

A season best ET for Johnson and he misses the top half of the field by just 0.003.

Ellis gets the number eight spot with a big improvement from earlier.

Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.054 sec., 330ft-2.846, 660ft-4.384/158.86 mph, 1,000ft-5.735.
Chip Ellis' incremental times: 60ft-1.063 sec., 330ft-2.865, 660ft-4.398/160.00 mph, 1,000ft-5.740.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.864/194.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.882/193.40, Was #4
Right Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.872/192.41, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.889/194.49, Was #6

The bikes are quick this morning and both bikes make great passes into the top four.

Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.067 sec., 330ft-2.858, 660ft-4.378/160.86 mph, 1,000ft-5.713.
Hector Arana Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.038 sec., 330ft-2.830, 660ft-4.360/159.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.709.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.352/193.43, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.891/193.52, Was #7
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.907/192.41, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.907/191.57, Was #10

Stoffer really cranks up the smoke in the burnout and matches her best from yesterday to the thousandth.

Arana struggles off the line and is slow going down the track.

Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.066 sec., 330ft-2.861, 660ft-4.396/159.34 mph, 1,000ft-5.746.

Left Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.862/191.76, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.876/191.29, Was #5
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 7.983/118.87, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.874/196.19, Was #4

Krawiec makes a good leave and has the bike move steadily towards the centerline going down the track. He finally lifts.A career best performance for Pollacheck to take over the new #2 spot.

Scotty Pollacheck's incremental times: 60ft-1.043 sec., 330ft-2.829, 660ft-4.352/160.14 mph, 1,000ft-5.698.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.836/195.62, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.838/196.10, Was #1
Right Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.905/192.14, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.883/193.90, Was #6

Last pair of the session.

Hines moves the bar up a little on a great looking pass. Tonglet slows just a little from earlier.
