POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 48th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Rhett Lougheed Runs 7.368/145.27, Now #21; No Prior Run

12:57 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 64 degrees, relative humidity 43 percent, barometer 28.75 inches, adjusted altitude 2,094 feet, track temperature 84 degrees.

Katie Sullivan is on the bump spot at 7.031.

Lougheed quick shifts, as the engine is up on the chip. He runs the bike on down for a while and then sits up and slows.


Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 6.924/192.06, Now #6; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.090/191.48, Now #15; Best prior run: 11.629/63.33, Was #23

Ellis gets a strong pass this time and runs into the six second range.

Underdahl gets a full pass this time, but doesn't make the field today.

Chip Ellis' incremental times: 60ft-1.058 sec., 330ft-2.857, 660ft-4.400/158.37 mph, 1,000ft-5.758.

Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 6.952/188.44, Now #11; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.125/189.63, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.104/189.02, Was #18

Michael Phillips is on the bump spot at 7.025.

Ray keep the engine running this time and makes a clean pass into the bottom of the field.

Camarena slows from yesterday.

Michael Ray's incremental times: 60ft-1.053 sec., 330ft-2.862, 660ft-4.407/157.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.771.

Left Lane: Kieth Burley Runs 8.920/133.45, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.805/185.46, Was #25
Right Lane: Redell Harris No Time, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.103/187.83, Was #18

Harris' bike never leaves the line and Burley's engine sounded sour running down the track.

Left Lane: James Surber Runs 7.265/180.24, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.152/183.92, Was #23
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 6.891/193.52, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.102/192.28, Was #17

GT Tonglet is on the bump spot at 6.999. In the prior pair, Harris' clutch cable broke.

Surber's bike drifts towards the center line and runs there to the finish line

Arana fixed his problems from yesterday and almost gets into the top four.

James Surber's incremental times: 60ft-1.144 sec., 330ft-3.034, 660ft-4.634/152.38 mph, 1,000ft-6.045.
Hector Arana's incremental times: 60ft-1.065 sec., 330ft-2.858, 660ft-4.388/159.57 mph, 1,000ft-5.734.

Left Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.118/183.02, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.145/183.84, Was #22
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.045/191.46, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.063/185.59, Was #16

Michael Ray is on the bump spot at 6.952.

Both bikes improve, but not enough to move into the field.

Matt Guidera's incremental times: 60ft-1.069 sec., 330ft-2.906, 660ft-4.490/153.75 mph, 1,000ft-5.897.
Shawn Gann's incremental times: 60ft-1.111 sec., 330ft-2.952, 660ft-4.510/157.34 mph, 1,000ft-5.875.

Right Lane: Katie Sullivan No Time, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.031/183.07, Was #15

Sullivan's bike stalls right off the line.

Wells slows.

Berry picks up a little and Phillips slows down a little. They'll stay outside looking in.

Mike Berry's incremental times: 60ft-1.092 sec., 330ft-2.933, 660ft-4.498/156.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.878.
Michael Phillips' incremental times: 60ft-1.097 sec., 330ft-2.919, 660ft-4.485/155.96 mph, 1,000ft-5.866.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 6.883/193.90, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.951/193.10, Was #11
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.063/191.29, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.999/191.48, Was #13

Two Tonglets this time!

Strong pass for LE and the best run of the session. He moves seven spots up the ladder into the top four.

GT's bike is little slow off the line and slows.

LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.061 sec., 330ft-2.863, 660ft-4.392/159.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.731.
GT Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.114 sec., 330ft-2.956, 660ft-4.524/156.55 mph, 1,000ft-5.892.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.907/191.57, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.933/191.95, Was #11
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.957/193.40, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.927/193.07, Was #9

Stoffer gets the best of the pair and pushes a slowing Johnson back a spot. She moves into the current top half of the field.

Two strong runs.

Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.061 sec., 330ft-2.855, 660ft-4.392/158.89 mph, 1,000ft-5.742.
Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.098 sec., 330ft-2.912, 660ft-4.450/159.14 mph, 1,000ft-5.799.

Left Lane: John Hall Runs 6.939/189.39, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.931/190.78, Was #11
Right Lane: Scotty Pollacheck Runs 6.876/191.29, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.898/191.08, Was #7

Two strong passes and Pollacheck makes the best run of the round and move up four spots on the ladder to the current #3 spot.

Hall basically repeats his performance from yesterday.

John Hall's incremental times: 60ft-1.060 sec., 330ft-2.862, 660ft-4.402/158.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.762.
Scotty Pollacheck's incremental times: 60ft-1.044 sec., 330ft-2.832, 660ft-4.360/159.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.709.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Jr Runs 6.910/193.35, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.889/194.49, Was #6
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.913/193.43, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.882/193.40, Was #4

Only 0.003 difference at the finish line, but neither bike improves.

Last pair of the round.

They leave together and Hines pulls steadily ahead to stretch his lead on the top qualifying spot. Krawiec makes another stong pass, but slows a little.
