Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 12th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 7.793/89.14, Now #17; Best prior run: 20.073/174.19, Was #20
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 9.923/64.43, Now #20; Best prior run: 9.091/73.79, Was #19

Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 19 percent, barometer 27.98 inches, adjusted altitude 3,141 feet, track temperature 70 degrees.

Buff is up in smoke early and clicks it off. Chrisman starts to lose traction and clicks it off.


Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.899/315.12, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.725/84.85, Was #15
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.859/316.60, Now #5; Best prior run: 8.527/68.39, Was #19

Torrence with the header flames shooting high over the rear wing and gets into the top half of the show. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.850 sec., 330ft-2.189, 660ft-3.095/278.69 mph. Grubnic with good pass to get in the show. David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.183, 660ft-3.124/270.86 mph.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 7.741/82.36, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.408/122.58, Was #16
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 8.599/75.02, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.853/81.42, Was #19

McClenathan is up in smoke early and McMillen is up in smoke by 200 feet.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 5.052/138.53, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.267/127.25, Was #15
Right Lane: Mike Salinas Runs 4.180/226.73, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.124/80.59, Was #17

Bernstein is up in smoke early and clicked it off. Salinas dropped a cylinder early and the car pushes over by the centerline before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.800/324.75, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.092/137.62, Was #16
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 6.956/91.30, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.821/151.00, Was #14

Lucas is up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off. Kalitta launched hard and was straight down the groove and he goes to the number two spot. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.152, 660ft-3.053/282.66 mph.

Left Lane: Chris Karamesines Runs 8.347/60.05, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.709/164.63, Was #14
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.844/317.64, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.356/183.39, Was #13

Karamesines is up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off. Todd launched hard and keep it hooked up to get into the top half of the show. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.175, 660ft-3.085/280.43 mph.

Left Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 3.878/316.23, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.941/299.33, Was #12
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.880/315.56, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.860/315.71, Was #8

These two were side-by-side all the way down the 1320...Millican with another good pass, but will stay in the number eight spot. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.202, 660ft-3.115/277.77 mph. Zizzo moves up the ladder two spots. T.J. Zizzo's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.175, 660ft-3.109/274.22 mph.

Left Lane: Khalid alBalooshi Runs 3.839/308.14, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.897/295.79, Was #11
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 3.810/323.97, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.844/324.28, Was #5

This was a great drag race and alBalooshi gets into the top half of the show. Khalid alBalooshi's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.065/276.80 mph. Vandergriff with another great pass to go to the number four spot. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.165, 660ft-3.062/283.49 mph.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 5.582/117.93, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.869/313.88, Was #10
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 6.573/98.95, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.815/323.19, Was #5

Langdon shakes and clicks it off...Brown starts to lose traction and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 12.426/79.69, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.773/323.66, Was #1
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 7.222/76.51, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.807/323.43, Was #3

Schumacher is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Massey was up in smoke early and clicked it off.
