BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Nostalgia Funny Car at the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series, California Hot Rod Reunion XXI:

Densham gets a small advantage at the green and slowly pulls ahead for the easy win, as Smitch engine melts down in the lights. No oil on the track though.

John Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.019 sec., 330ft-2.624, 660ft-3.887/194.55 mph, 1,000ft-4.978.
Steven Densham's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.555, 660ft-3.808/201.82 mph, 1,000ft-4.883.

Arend has issue after the burn out and has to click off the engine.

Rogers get a free pass to round two and gives up lane choice, as the car gets loose down track and he lifts.

Worsham gets a starting line advantage, but strikes the tires right after that.

The Blue Max crew finds some big power and Young runs 0.001 to Head's #1 qualifying position with a new top speed in FC for the easy win. If Head wins round one it will be interesting in round two.

Well, Head was up to the task and runs a new low ET of the event in the decisive win. He WILL have lane choice.

Day was second off the line and chased Head to the finish line with a better ET than he qualified with, but was no match.

Chad Head's incremental margins: 60ft(0.060), 330 ft(0.071), 660ft(0.134), 1,000ft(0.193). MOV: 0.2386 seconds (approximately 84 feet).

James Day's incremental times: 60ft-1.008 sec., 330ft-2.605, 660ft-3.891/191.13 mph, 1,000ft-4.998.
Chad Head's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.566, 660ft-3.789/202.42 mph, 1,000ft-4.837.

Horan is away second, but goes around Eickman right away. He stays out in front until before the 330 lights, where Eickman gets back in front. Any chance to recover is gone, as the car starts to tail wag near the lights.

Dan Horan Jr's incremental times: 60ft-1.011 sec., 330ft-2.628, 660ft-3.878/198.03 mph, 1,000ft-4.980.
Gary Eickman's incremental times: 60ft-1.039 sec., 330ft-2.611, 660ft-3.869/194.86 mph, 1,000ft-4.952.

Martin was engine issues before they can do the burnout, so Lewis will get the single.

We are starting to see good header flames now and Lewis makes a clean and straight pass to the lights. He improves on his qualifying ET.

Mike Lewis' incremental times: 60ft-1.012 sec., 330ft-2.565, 660ft-3.814/197.54 mph, 1,000ft-4.886.

It late and later at the green, but Konno stays out in front for the nine foot hole shot win. He will give up lane choice to Lewis in round two tomorrow.

Bateman has the speed, but can't match his earlier ET's.

Rian Konno's incremental times: 60ft-1.042 sec., 330ft-2.703, 660ft-3.990/191.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.098.

Krabill uses his crystal ball of the tree and gets the hole shot win by fourteen feet. Eickman will have lane choice on Sunday.

Don't give Crawford any sharp objects, as he improves on both his qualifying ET and MPH in the loss.
