ENNIS, Texas - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Extreme Pro Stock at the American Drag Racing League, ADRL World Finals VIII presented by CarSafe listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Brad Waddle Runs 4.157/173.70, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.132/175.25, Was #17

12:41 p.m. Brian Gahm is on the bump spot at 4.115.

Waddle failed to improve and he will be a spectator this afternoon.

Right Lane: Larry O'Brien Runs 4.149/174.87, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.106/176.65, Was #15

Gahm is in the championship chase, along with Cary Goforth and Richie Stevens. He failed to improve and will start from the bottom of the field this afternoon. O'Brien matched Goforth on this run and will also start way down on the list.

Left Lane: Matt Bertsch Runs 4.110/176.10, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.094/176.12, Was #13
Right Lane: Kevin Bealko Runs 4.128/173.78, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.096/176.77, Was #14

Two good runs, but conditions today are not as good as they were last night and neither driver improved.

Left Lane: John Montecalvo Runs 4.203/175.78, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.086/177.95, Was #10
Right Lane: David Schorr Runs 4.156/173.09, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.091/175.73, Was #12

Montecalvo had a lot of tire spin on the launch.

Left Lane: Elijah Morton Runs 4.190/175.21, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.074/178.14, Was #8
Right Lane: John Pluchino Runs 4.136/174.75, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.089/177.04, Was #11

Same story here, two good runs, about four or five hundredths slower than yesterday evening.

Left Lane: Richard Penland Runs 4.107/176.07, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.064/176.72, Was #6
Right Lane: Scott Hintz Runs 4.113/175.46, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.069/177.11, Was #7

Ditto...

Left Lane: Dean Goforth Runs 4.095/176.49, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.058/178.71, Was #4
Right Lane: Todd Hoerner Runs 4.114/175.68, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.060/178.64, Was #5

Again, two good runs, nothing changes.

Left Lane: John Deflorian Jr. Runs 4.168/171.14, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.040/179.95, Was #1
Right Lane: Cary Goforth Runs 4.090/175.91, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.055/177.32, Was #3

Goforth has a solid points lead and can clinch the championship by qualifying (that's checked off) and winning in round one.

Deflorian's car was skating around a bit, scrubbing off a little ET. Goforth made a nice run, quickest of the round.

Left Lane: Richie Stevens Jr Runs 4.119/174.32, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.075/177.07, Was #9
Right Lane: Pete Berner Runs 4.103/175.41, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.051/177.53, Was #2

Final pair and two more good runs to close out qualifying for Pro Stock.

Cory Goforth will meet Kevin Bealko in round one and will clinch the championship if he wins. If not, it's up to Stevens and Brian Gahm to run him down and either will have to win the event to do so.
