LEICESTER, N.Y. -- The Gasser Racing Series, along with Empire Dragway, would like to invite all racers and fans of racing to come out to Empire Dragway for our 2nd annual Gold Cup nostalgia race event August 18-19. We expect to again have the largest nostalgia race in the country, with hundreds of cars and people enjoying the show and having fun racing. The 1/8 mile track is very well maintained and racing the 1/8th mile allows for plenty of shutdown area. There are bleachers on both sides of the track so everyone can have a great view of the lanes! There are excellent eats at the tracks concession stands, and plenty of green space to get away from the heat! This year promises to be extra special, with two full days of racing and even a full test n tune on Friday night, including free overnight parking.

Classes include Street & Strip, Open Comp (including Altereds and front engine dragsters), Quick Nostalgia and the GRS Nostalgia and Modified. The GRS Nostalgia class includes cars 1966 and older running a minimum et of 8.50. Modified class includes cars 1974 and older with a minimum et of 7.50. The Nostalgia class this year includes a Byron Stack Memorial race, where the winner will take home one of the nicest, custom trophies built by Dewey Dilcher at over 3 feet tall, complete with Byron Stack's signature blue Willys on top!

Thanks to event sponsors, P&J (Postler & Jaeckle Mechanical Contracting), Gasser Wars Magazine, Ross Racing Engines, Clark Rigging and Richard Moore, in addition to a generous purse, our GRS classes will be competing for thousands in contingency prizes. There will also be a special Pete Ucci memorial prize of $100 per class for all classes on Sunday.

You can also expect to see some exhibition match racing with some very cool AA cars! In addition to racing, there will also be some of the nicest historic nostalgia cars on the lot for this event, including the Bizio pickup and the Kohler Brothers King Kong Anglia and more.

Grand Marshall of the event will be National Record-holder Jim Zakia, who is one of the longest active racers in the area, having won events all over the east coast, including multiple wins at Indy with multiple cars! Come out and see Jimmy along with the largest gathering of nostalgia gasser cars in the US!

As you can see, there's something for everyone, so plan for an excellent weekend of fun! Gates open at 10am Saturday with time trials starting at 1pm. Sunday the gates open at 9:30am with time trials starting at 10:30 and eliminations starting at 2:30.

Entry fees for racers vary by class, but spectators and crew come in at $15 for one day (Sat/Sun) or $25 for the event (Sat and Sun), children 6-12 are only $5, and 5 and under are FREE. Be sure to check out the website for more details! or
