BUDDS CREEK, Md. - 6:30 p.m. The rain stopped about an hour ago and track drying has been under way since then, except for a short break during a brief shower.

As usual, the quarter-mile is drying quickly, but the more porous shutdown area is taking longer to come around.

Race officials still hope to complete the event tonight.

Should that not be possible, a number of alternatives are being considered, but those are all on "the back burner" for now.

Stay tuned, the picture should be clearer in about an hour.
