Memphis International Raceway Returns to Super Chevy Show Schedule

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The 2012 Super Chevy Show series is sure to be bigger and better, bringing back Memphis International Raceway under new ownership and expanding the series to 13 shows. Memphis traditionally had one of the top five events on the circuit and track management is already planning its return to the national event scene by playing host to the April 13-15 Super Chevy Show - the second of 13 stops in 2012.

Lex Dudas manages Maple Grove Raceway (Reading, Pa.) and serves as the series president. Dudas said the series has successfully grown, which is evident with the return of the Memphis facility.

"We are excited to see the series continue to grow every season," Dudas said. "It is great for our sponsors, participants and fans. In 2011 we had multiple shows that had more than 1,000 participants ranging from car show to drag race, autocross, midway, and swap meet."

Memphis International Raceway, formally known as Memphis Motorsports Park, has been purchased and reopened by new and more aggressive owners who are anxious about giving the fans what they want: High-quality, national events.

"Both Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) and Memphis International Raceway (MIR) are excited to host Super Chevy Show events in 2012," President and CEO of PBIR and MIR, Jason Rittenberry said. "Next season marks the second year for the Super Chevy Show at PBIR and we're eager to expand and enhance the event from 2011. Super Chevy Show is a new addition to the Memphis International Raceway schedule and we're looking forward bringing the popular three-day festival back to the Memphis area after a two-year absence."
