POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 46th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 6.651/207.18, Now #13; No Prior Run

1:58 p.m.Weather conditions: air temperature 75 degrees, relative humidity 22 percent, barometer 29.13 inches, adjusted altitude 2,291 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.

Glidden has withdrawn from the event and Jerry Haas has taken over the seat. in the Cunningham Mustang Johnny Gray is on the bump spot at 6.638.

The Mustang leaves hard and then moves towards the wall. Haas skirts it for a long ways before getting it back in the groove.


Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.551/210.83, Now #1; Best prior run: 14.605/59.14, Was #19
Right Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 6.827/203.34, Now #17; No Prior Run

Gaines goes from outhouse to penthouse and a perfect looking pass into the #1 position on the ladder.

Rivera gets a full pass, but doesn't qualify.

V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.743, 660ft-4.214/167.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.482.
Gordie Rivera's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.851, 660ft-4.397/160.38 mph, 1,000ft-5.718.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.553/211.39, Now #2; Best prior run: 12.417/70.91, Was #19
Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.671/206.54, Now #16; Best prior run: 15.088/56.26, Was #21

Kurt Johnson is on the bump spot at 6.616.

Johnson is just a tick slower in 60 feet and slides in behind Gaines in the new #2 spot.

Enders finds some more power and bumps into the field.

Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.748, 660ft-4.218/167.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.486.
Erica Enders' incremental times: 60ft-1.006 sec., 330ft-2.799, 660ft-4.291/164.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.580.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.634/208.78, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.834/207.18, Was #20
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.582/209.95, Now #10; Best prior run: 13.970/59.28, Was #21

Dave Connolly is on the bump spot at 6.615.

A little wiggle by Morgan about 100 feet out and he just gets into the field in the #15 spot.

Brogdon gets his full pull this time and its a good one allthe way into the #10 position.

Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.780, 660ft-4.269/165.58 mph, 1,000ft-5.552.
Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.760, 660ft-4.237/167.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.509.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.593/209.69, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.788/207.56, Was #20
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.609/209.39, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.616/209.82, Was #14

Greg Stanfield is on the bump spot at 6.610.

Coughlin makes a big move all the way to the number eleven position. Johnson doesn't qualify on an improving pass.

Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.243/166.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.517.
Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.768, 660ft-4.252/166.01 mph, 1,000ft-5.531.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.629/209.65, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.694/209.49, Was #20
Right Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 6.612/209.01, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.607/209.75, Was #12

Bob Yonke is on the bump spot at 6.607 and has to improve. He runs weel, but doesn't improve.

Johnson improves to the #16 spot on a clean pass.

Warren Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.785, 660ft-4.273/165.84 mph, 1,000ft-5.552.
Bob Yonke's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.253/165.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.533.

Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 6.615/208.75, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.638/208.97, Was #18
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.574/210.24, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.576/210.67, Was #9

A small improvement for Edwards and he stays #9.

A couple of hunderdth improvement moves Gray to the #16 spot.

Johnny Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.252/165.97 mph, 1,000ft-5.535.
Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.757, 660ft-4.233/167.14 mph, 1,000ft-5.503.

Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.597/209.69, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.615/209.23, Was #15
Right Lane: Ronnie Humphrey Runs 6.606/209.88, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.570/211.26, Was #7

Connolly pick up the pace and moves into the current bump spot, but Humphrey slows a tad.

Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.772, 660ft-4.248/166.64 mph, 1,000ft-5.523.
Ronnie Humphrey's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.777, 660ft-4.255/166.72 mph, 1,000ft-5.530.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.567/210.05, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.610/210.05, Was #15
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.610/209.75, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.569/210.60, Was #6

Krisher moves a little out of the groove and slows.

Stanfield takes a 0.970 sixty foot time and parleys it to a great pass to the new #6 position in the top half of the field.

Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.742, 660ft-4.218/166.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.492.
Ron Krisher's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.776, 660ft-4.259/166.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.534.

Left Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.564/210.47, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.572/210.67, Was #9
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 12.166/72.04, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.563/209.88, Was #5

Gray has issues after the launch and slows.

Nice clean pass for Deceglie and a improving ET gets him the new #6 spot.

Vinnie Deceglie's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.745, 660ft-4.221/166.74 mph, 1,000ft-5.492.
Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-3.287, 660ft-6.131/077.92 mph, 1,000ft-9.183.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.595/210.18, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.563/211.20, Was #4
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.667/210.05, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.561/211.16, Was #3

Neither Pontiac can challenge the MOPAR's for the top spots this session.

The two Summit cars leave together and Line's sixty foot advantage is quickly gone, as Anderson drives on by for the better pass.

They will stay #3 and #4 today.

Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.773, 660ft-4.247/166.68 mph, 1,000ft-5.521.
Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.822, 660ft-4.314/165.94 mph, 1,000ft-5.592.

2:23 p.m. V. Gaines is number one with a 6.551 and Jeg Coughlin is on the bump spot at 6.593.
