Martin and Giacalone Earn Pro Gas Wins at Auto Club Dragway

Greg Martin won his first-ever Southern California Pro Gas Association event during the Fourth of
July weekend at Auto Club Dragway. Paul Giacalone picked up his second win of the season, and has
posted notice that he'll be a major factor in the series championship which concludes on August
29-30, 2010.
Martin went to the final round of the Meziere Enterprises "Cool Down Nationals" by defeating Pete
Jimenez, Joe Galati, Rick Gunther, and Greg Ventura before defeating Darryl Mitchell Jr. in the
double-breakout final, 9.881, 147.18 to a losing 9.865, 153.70.
Giacalone vs. Waggoner

Giacalone drove his small-block Chevy-powered '55 Chevy to the final round by stopping Phillip
Pacatang, Paul Wiechmann, and Doug Sedmak before getting a bye into the K&N Filters/Lucas Oil
"Summer Nationals". Giacalone used a .010 package in the final round to beat Charlie Waggoner Jr.,
9.902, 139.23 (.008 reaction time) to Waggoner's second best of 9.947, 135.25 (.016 r.t.).
The final race of the 2010 Pro Gas season is scheduled for August 28-29, 2010 at Auto Club Dragway.
Chris Newman takes a 30-point lead over Val Torres Sr. into the two-race final weekend, 360 points
to 330. Greg Martin and Wayne Newman are tied for third with 297 points and Mike Blodgett Sr. has
296. The final two races will pay a guaranteed $2000 to win, $1000 runner-up, and $500 to the
semifinals both days.
