CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Bike at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 49th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Sam Hurwitz Runs 7.344/175.84, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.426/178.66, Was #29
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.253/188.04, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.318/180.14, Was #13

Current weather conditions:73 degrees, 46percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.11inches, with a track temperature of 96 degrees.

A good lap by Phillips to move him up to eighth in the order while Hurwitz just misses the cut..


Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.351/181.69, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.358/181.50, Was #21
Right Lane: Brian DeLong Runs 7.570/180.74, Now #33; Best prior run: 7.561/175.48, Was #33

Harris improves but not enough to get in at this time.

Left Lane: Mike Kovacevich Runs 7.528/174.87, Now #32; Best prior run: 7.517/174.66, Was #32
Right Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.642/181.50, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.410/183.82, Was #25

No help for either rider here as they both slow from their earlier pace.

Left Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.361/180.28, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.430/177.44, Was #30
Right Lane: Lloyd Straus Runs 7.376/183.39, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.411/180.12, Was #26

This pair both ran better than last weekend but are still on the outside looking in.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.238/184.57, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.261/184.07, Was #9
Right Lane: Josh Helvie Runs 9.866/84.34, Now #28; Best prior run: 7.411/176.65, Was #28

Stoffer moves up one spot but Helvie stays well down in the order on the Kawasaki.

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.327/180.36, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.417/174.75, Was #30
Right Lane: Chris Reuter Runs 7.433/182.65, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.325/181.96, Was #14

DeSantis with a great looking pass to get in the show and that bumped out Steve Johnson.

Left Lane: Matthew Smith Runs 7.336/176.53, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.329/180.33, Was #16
Right Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.299/186.85, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.398/179.54, Was #27

A big run for Hale who struggled mightily last weekend as he moves into the #13 spot. Smith just misses.

Left Lane: Sean Conner Runs 7.371/177.84, Now #23; Best prior run: 7.358/182.72, Was #23
Right Lane: Keith Freeman Runs 7.430/181.18, Now #25; Best prior run: 7.369/179.97, Was #25

No help for either rider here despite the favorable weather conditions.

Left Lane: Keith Dennis Runs 7.352/178.38, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.355/180.96, Was #22
Right Lane: Brian Schultz Runs 7.263/187.39, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.350/176.86, Was #20

Dennis does not improve but Schultz make a great run to jump from 20th to 11 th in the order

Left Lane: Tommy Grimes Jr Runs 7.271/183.69, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.295/182.35, Was #13
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.345/164.29, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.261/182.43, Was #10

Grimes moves up one spot in the order while Berry slows from his earlier pace.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.201/182.65, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.306/189.15, Was #15
Right Lane: Fred Collis Runs 7.229/183.52, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.224/183.69, Was #6

A big move by the Harley as Hines trims a full tenth from his previous best to take over the # 3 spot.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.297/180.57, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.332/181.52, Was #19
Right Lane: Reggie Showers Runs 7.214/188.41, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.229/180.12, Was #8

After being bumped earlier Johnson gets back in while Showers only moves up one spot despite picking up a hundredth and a half.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.212/190.14, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.282/184.32, Was #14
Right Lane: Angelle Savoie Runs 7.164/185.28, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.172/189.12, Was #1

Brown continues to struggle and stays well down the order despite improving by 7 hundredths while his teammate ups the ante even more at the sharp end of the field.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.270/182.01, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.210/183.44, Was #5
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.216/189.82, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.212/183.15, Was #6

No help for either rider here as they both fall off their pace from last weekend.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.200/189.79, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.198/185.38, Was #2

Gann fails to improve by just a couple of thousandths.
