Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #3

CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 49th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steve Johns Runs 6.839/202.70, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.871/201.46, Was #24
Right Lane: Gene Wilson Runs 6.837/202.55, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.886/200.56, Was #31

Current weather conditions: 73 degrees, 49 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.11 inches, with a track temperature of 91 degrees under sunny skies.



A couple great looking passes here, and if this is any indication, this will be a great session. That will bump out Morgan and Nickens.


Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.814/201.73, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.885/200.20, Was #31
Right Lane: Eric Shelton Runs 9.998/95.53, Now #46; Best prior run: 7.352/196.59, Was #46

Shelton with problems right off the starting line. Krisher with a nice pass and a 0.999 60-foot time.

Left Lane: JR Carr Runs 6.879/200.26, Now #29; Best prior run: 6.899/199.94, Was #33
Right Lane: Larry Peternel Runs 6.964/197.22, Now #41; Best prior run: 6.969/196.27, Was #42

No help for these two.

Left Lane: Kevin Lawrence Runs 6.920/199.37, Now #38; Best prior run: 6.988/198.00, Was #43
Right Lane: Randy Daniels Runs 6.898/198.47, Now #34; Best prior run: 6.920/198.70, Was #37

Lawrence with a career best, but is way short of making the field.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.834/201.16, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.931/198.17, Was #40
Right Lane: Nick Fratt Runs 6.882/200.05, Now #31; Best prior run: 6.887/199.46, Was #33

Stanfield with a quick 60-foot field and parlays that into a nice pass to get in the show. That will bump out Lastor.

Left Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.909/198.06, Now #36; Best prior run: 6.930/198.32, Was #40
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.845/201.40, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.883/199.61, Was #32

Johnson with a 1.003 second 60-foot time, but comes up short. Koretsky picks up, but not near enough.

Left Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 6.894/199.67, Now #35; Best prior run: 6.913/198.93, Was #38

Haas with his bet pass of the event, but will come up short.

Left Lane: Scott Geoffrion Runs 6.844/202.45, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.885/200.29, Was #34
Right Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 6.851/200.71, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.872/199.52, Was #29

Geoffrion makes a big move in the right direction, but till comes up short of the field.

Left Lane: Darrell Alderman Runs 6.863/200.35, Now #27; Best prior run: 6.867/200.14, Was #28
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.969/199.88, Now #26; Best prior run: 6.860/200.44, Was #26



Left Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 6.844/200.86, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.883/199.14, Was #34
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.785/204.63, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.859/201.22, Was #25

Apparently the testing Jeg did this past weekend in St. Louis has paid off. He had a 0.992 second 60-foot time and sets bot ends of the track record.

Left Lane: George Marnell Runs 6.873/200.62, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.834/200.83, Was #11
Right Lane: Bo Nickens Runs 6.865/200.26, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.856/200.50, Was #25

No help here for these two.

Left Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 6.858/200.98, Now #27; Best prior run: 6.870/200.68, Was #31
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.812/203.43, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.852/200.14, Was #24

Morgan with a quick 0.994 second 60-foot time to move into the number four spot.

Left Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 6.836/201.28, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.868/199.70, Was #31
Right Lane: Tom Martino Runs 6.872/201.13, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.852/200.29, Was #24

Whisnant gets into the show with this pass and that bumps out Adams.

Left Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 6.853/200.77, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.833/201.79, Was #9
Right Lane: Taylor Lastor Runs 6.822/201.82, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.851/200.83, Was #23

Nice pass here for Lastor to go from the outside of the show to the top half of the field.

Left Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.839/200.74, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.867/200.20, Was #31

Pawuk made a move in the right direction, but not near enough.

Left Lane: Barry Grant Runs 6.839/201.07, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.858/200.98, Was #28
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.823/202.03, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.836/200.98, Was #17

Connolly gets into the top half of the show and that bumps out Whisnant.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.819/202.21, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.836/202.09, Was #16
Right Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 10.353/86.93, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.835/201.43, Was #15

Allen with a great 0.997 60-foot time and then slowed around 200 feet.

Left Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.836/200.80, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.830/201.37, Was #11
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.816/201.49, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.833/200.38, Was #13

Edwards with a good looking pass to move into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 7.096/163.16, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.825/202.18, Was #10
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.810/202.97, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.827/201.04, Was #11

Johnson gave up the run early and Yates with a nice pass to go to number four.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.778/203.77, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.800/202.30, Was #3
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.786/205.01, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.799/202.18, Was #2

Kurt with a great pass fot the number one spot and Greg was right there with him for the number three spot. That wraps up round three with Kurt leading the way and Allen rounding out the top 16.
