Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #4

CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 49th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.829/202.15, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.825/202.18, Was #11

Current weather conditions: 70 degrees, 55 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.16 inches, with a track temperature of 104 degrees under sunny skies.



We should have a barometer of how goode this session will be right here. Warren does not improve, and will stay 11th with a chance of getting bumped out wit a lot of good cars yet to run.


Right Lane: Kevin Lawrence Runs 6.928/199.79, Now #40; Best prior run: 6.920/199.37, Was #40



Left Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 13.680/60.80, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.835/201.43, Was #16
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.915/198.88, Now #37; Best prior run: 6.909/198.06, Was #37

Allen had problems right off the starting line and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Eric Shelton Runs 6.995/198.64, Now #44; Best prior run: 7.352/196.59, Was #46
Right Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 6.901/199.49, Now #35; Best prior run: 6.894/199.67, Was #35

Shelton is the first one to improve today.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.893/200.41, Now #30; Best prior run: 6.860/200.44, Was #30
Right Lane: JR Carr Runs 6.868/200.32, Now #32; Best prior run: 6.879/200.26, Was #33

Carr with a slight improvement, but not near enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: Larry Peternel No Time, Now #42; Best prior run: 6.964/197.22, Was #42
Right Lane: George Marnell Runs 6.830/201.10, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.834/200.83, Was #15

Peternel broke on the burnout. Marnell with the quickest 60-foot time of the session and picks up a couple spots.

Left Lane: Randy Daniels Runs 6.936/198.29, Now #36; Best prior run: 6.898/198.47, Was #36
Right Lane: Darrell Alderman Runs 6.849/200.86, Now #26; Best prior run: 6.863/200.35, Was #31

Alderman with his best pass of the weekend, but is still short of the show.

Left Lane: Bo Nickens Runs 6.868/200.35, Now #29; Best prior run: 6.856/200.50, Was #29
Right Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 6.862/200.56, Now #24; Best prior run: 6.844/200.86, Was #24



Left Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 6.859/200.86, Now #27; Best prior run: 6.851/200.71, Was #27
Right Lane: Scott Geoffrion Runs 6.854/201.37, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.844/202.45, Was #23

These two are back after being shut off earlier.

Right Lane: Mark Pawuk No Time, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.839/200.74, Was #22

Pawuk broke on the burnout. There was a lot of smoke rolling out of Pawuk's car, Pawuk got out of the car. Johnson with a nice launch and was able to get back into the show here and that bumped out Allen. Apparently it was electrical fire.

Left Lane: Gene Wilson Runs 6.816/201.58, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.837/202.55, Was #20
Right Lane: Barry Grant Runs 6.881/199.14, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.839/201.07, Was #22

Wilson with the run of the session here when everyone else is slowing down Wilson made the big move. He goes from the outside into the top half of the show. That bumped out Stanfield.

Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.840/201.73, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.823/202.03, Was #11
Right Lane: Steve Johns Runs 11.701/74.78, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.839/202.70, Was #21

Johns made a quick move toward the wall right off the starting line and clicked it off. No help here for Connolly.

Left Lane: Taylor Lastor Runs 6.829/201.76, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.822/201.82, Was #10
Right Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 6.843/201.16, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.836/201.28, Was #19



Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.823/201.22, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.816/201.49, Was #8
Right Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.848/201.73, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.830/201.37, Was #13



Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.811/201.85, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.812/203.43, Was #5

Morgan with a real nice pass here, quick for the session and wilson is second quick.

Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.866/202.73, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.819/202.21, Was #9

Yates with the quickest pass of the session. Line had some smoke right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.813/202.88, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.786/205.01, Was #3
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.842/200.95, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.814/201.73, Was #6



Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 7.759/131.73, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.785/204.63, Was #2
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.807/202.79, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.778/203.77, Was #1

Johnson with a great pass the quickest pass of the session. We finish with Kurt number one and Troy holding on to the number 16 spot.
