INDIANAPOLIS -- Cory Lee has been selected as the new "relief driver" for Worsham Racing's Artisan Home Entertainment "Terminator 2: Extreme DVD" Pontiac Funny Car. Lee replaces Phil Burkart, who moved over to the Worsham's Checker, Schuck's, Kragen blue team following the resignation of Johnny Gray on Monday, and will be in the car this weekend at the Lucas Oil Nationals in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Lee will handle the driving chores for the T2 team on an interim basis, while the team awaits Arnie Karp's return from a recent leg injury and surgery. Karp's return date is not yet known, though he is currently in rehab and has every intention of getting back in the seat before the end of the 2003 season.

By selecting Lee as the new "relief driver" for the T2 program, Worsham aimed to make the transition as seamless as possible.

"Cory drove our third car last year, for three races, so he'll be able to jump in and do a great job for us, I'm sure of that," Worsham said. "Phil did a fantastic job driving the car for two races, and we know Cory's abilities will allow the Artisan team to keep right on rolling. As a team, they've really come together, and (Crew Chief) Garry Kennedy has the T2 car running well enough to win. Cory's job will be to drive as well as he can until Arnie can get back in the seat, and I know he's excited about taking on the challenge."

Lee's three race stint with Team CSK last season was a successful, albeit brief, experiment aimed at testing the waters in "3-Car Team" territory. Lee qualified at all three races the CSK "Black Team" attended in 2002, and that effort played a major part in the decision to launch the Artisan Home Entertainment team this year, as a full time professional team.

"It was a great experience driving for the Worshams last season," Lee said. "Del knows that I'm eager to jump into any car they put on the track, but I wasn't available when Arnie got injured. As it turns out, here we are two races later and I'm getting my chance to drive the Artisan Home Entertainment car. I'm absolutely thrilled to be a part of Worsham Racing again, and I'll do my best to represent Artisan, the Worshams, and Arnie Karp to the best of my availability."
