Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #1

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 16th annual O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Zach Barklage Runs 6.448/213.81, Now #2
Right Lane: Thomas Patterson Runs 6.351/212.13, Now #1

Current weather conditions: 68 degrees, 75 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.10 inches, with a track temperature of 94 degrees under cloudy skies.



Barklage made a move toward the centerline and then reeled it back into the lane on the top end. Patterson straight down the groove.


Left Lane: Dan Rowe Runs 6.329/218.34, Now #1
Right Lane: Wayne Torkelson Runs 11.575/76.08, Now #4

Rowe shook and made a quick move toward the wall, but reel it back into the groove. Torkelson with violent tire shake and shut off.

Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 6.249/226.58, Now #1
Right Lane: Billy Harper Runs 10.450/83.12, Now #5

Harper with a lot of tire shake. Smith with nice looking pass straight down the groove.

Left Lane: Marty McGinnis Runs 6.439/217.35, Now #5
Right Lane: Shannon Jenkins Runs 6.280/222.11, Now #2

Jenkins with a nice looking pass to to the number two spot.

Left Lane: Bill Hill Runs 7.478/129.89, Now #7
Right Lane: Rick Stivers Runs 13.514/59.99, Now #10

A couple of ugly runs here with a lot of tire shake in both lanes.

Left Lane: Tim McAmis Runs 6.254/225.07, Now #2
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 6.275/223.62, Now #3

Our first good looking drag race of the session.

Right Lane: Mitch Stott Runs 6.245/227.73, Now #1

Stott chattered the tires about 150 feet down track.

Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 6.307/222.91, Now #7
Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 6.253/223.99, Now #3

Castellana with good straight pass down the groove, and Ray gets in the show here. The bump is now Rowe with a 6.329 seconds.

Left Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 6.303/222.36, Now #7
Right Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 6.329/223.43, Now #9

A couple nice looking passes here. Ashley to gets in the show and Critchley just misses.
