MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 16th annual O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Nick Fratt Runs 6.929/197.86, Now #27; Best prior run: 8.284/118.62, Was #31

Current weather conditions: 67 degrees, 71 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.01 inches, with a track temperature of 91 degrees and the sun is starting to set.

Fratt with a nice pass.

Left Lane: Jim Cunningham Runs 7.152/191.21, Now #31; Best prior run: 7.162/191.62, Was #30
Right Lane: Barry Grant Runs 6.872/201.01, Now #22; Best prior run: 12.515/67.10, Was #33

Grant made a big move in the right direction, but is still way short of making the show.

Left Lane: Arturo Delgado Runs 6.948/196.73, Now #28; Best prior run: 6.892/199.29, Was #27
Right Lane: George Marnell Runs 6.824/201.97, Now #12; Best prior run: 9.040/103.63, Was #33

Marnell was able to fet it to hook up this time and get in the show.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.876/201.52, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.889/201.10, Was #27
Right Lane: Jose Maldonado Runs 6.893/198.96, Now #29; Best prior run: 7.350/158.22, Was #33

Gaines picks up, but not enough to get in. Maldonado with his career quickest pass here, but will not get in the show.

Left Lane: Mike Thomas Runs 6.847/200.20, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.886/199.08, Was #27
Right Lane: Eric Shelton Runs 6.986/198.67, Now #32; Best prior run: 6.949/198.96, Was #32

Thomas with nice pass, and just come up short by 0.003 seconds short of getting in the show.

Left Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.839/200.53, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.881/200.29, Was #27
Right Lane: Mark Pawuk Runs 6.835/201.10, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.932/199.49, Was #31

Pawuk gets in the show and that bumps out Whisnant.

Left Lane: Bo Nickens Runs 6.830/201.19, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.870/200.59, Was #25
Right Lane: Jerry Haas Runs 6.873/200.83, Now #27; Best prior run: 6.874/200.77, Was #27

Nickens with the quickest 60 foot time of the session, so far and he gets into the show. That bumped out Lastor.

Left Lane: Gene Wilson Runs 6.801/202.85, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.859/201.70, Was #24
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.845/201.79, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.868/201.10, Was #25

Wilson with a nice improvement here and goes from outside the show to the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 14.178/57.23, Now #25; Best prior run: 6.857/202.42, Was #24
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.814/203.25, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.857/202.27, Was #25

Troy shook hard and headed toward the centerline before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.849/200.68, Now #24; Best prior run: 6.851/201.01, Was #24
Right Lane: Mark Whisnant Runs 6.841/201.85, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.844/201.43, Was #21

Both cars made moves in the right direction just not enough.

Left Lane: Taylor Lastor Runs 6.816/201.67, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.838/201.64, Was #19
Right Lane: Bruce Allen Runs 6.810/202.94, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.831/202.52, Was #16

Allen with a 1.000 60-foot time and gets into the top half of the field. Lastor gets in the show and bumps out Nickens.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.748/202.94, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.835/201.97, Was #18
Right Lane: Scott Geoffrion Runs 6.817/203.12, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.824/202.70, Was #15

Jeg with a 0.995-second 60-foot time and blast on through for the number one spot. Geoffrion picks up a couple spots.

Left Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.780/201.97, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.814/201.64, Was #11
Right Lane: Darrell Alderman Runs 6.797/202.48, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.821/201.88, Was #16

This was a great side by side drag race for the number two and three spots, but are over 0.03 behind Jeg's great pass.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.800/201.55, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.812/202.03, Was #11
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.807/202.33, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.820/201.70, Was #16

Edwards with another nice looking pass here. Johnson with good looking pass to get off the bubble.

Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.828/202.36, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.804/202.67, Was #9
Right Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.813/202.27, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.819/201.79, Was #16

No help here for Connolly. Schmidt gets off the bubble and puts Geoffrion on the bump.

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.784/202.58, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.803/201.82, Was #8
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.787/203.71, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.805/203.09, Was #10

This was a great side by side drag race.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.783/203.00, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.798/203.46, Was #6
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.782/203.61, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.798/202.76, Was #7

Another great side by side drag race to end the session. Jeg is 0.032 seconds ahead of the number two qualifier Yates and there is only 0.037 seconds difference between Yates and the number number 16 qualifier Geoffrion.
