Left Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 4.938/249.67, Now #4; Best prior run: 8.303/97.80, Was #17
7:01 PM Current weather conditions: 64 degrees, 79 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.10 inches, with a track temperature of 86 degrees.
Johnson was on a really good run until he gets about 1000 feet out, then he bangs the blower,
the burst panel flying high into the air and landing in the motorhome parking. He still runs
well enough to get in the show in the fourth spot for now.
Left Lane: Richard Hartman Runs 8.452/108.38, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.677/116.17, Was #17
Right Lane: Gary Scelzi Runs 4.837/322.42, Now #1; Best prior run: 10.291/83.12, Was #19
Hartman gets about 300 feet out and goes up in smoke. Scelzi makes a great run, setting the track speed record and taking over the top spot for now.
Left Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 5.875/163.63, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.643/105.36, Was #17
Right Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 4.826/316.67, Now #1; Best prior run: 9.286/88.27, Was #19
Creasy gets about 500 feet out, loses traction and has to shut down. Bazemore goes right down the groove and knocks Scelzi off the pole.
Left Lane: John Force Runs 4.826/313.37, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.056/181.79, Was #17
Right Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.857/313.15, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.292/139.24, Was #18
Force and Capps both had traction problems in the first round and neither is in the show. No problems here, both cars right down the groove, and they get in the top half of the field.
Left Lane: Scotty Cannon Runs 9.197/89.37, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.406/219.26, Was #17
Right Lane: Bob Gilbertson Runs 5.146/283.55, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.117/293.15, Was #15
Cannon gets about 300 feet out, strikes the tires and has to abort the run. Gilbertson made a decent pass but was mixing up cylinders from the 1000-foot mark on.
Left Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 4.892/312.57, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.208/287.41, Was #16
Right Lane: Dean Skuza Runs 10.479/78.73, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.097/262.44, Was #14
Skuza gets about 300 feet out, goes up in smoke and shuts down. Pedregon makes a good pass and moves up to the sixth spot.

Pedregon goes right down the groove, header flames high and steady, and he moves up one spot to 11th.

Right Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.912/311.70, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.031/303.91, Was #13
Pedregon comes off the line, gets about 50 feet out and bangs the blower. Wilkerson makes a good run until just before he goes through the lights, then blower explodes in a big ball of sparks and flames.
