Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #3

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 16th annual O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Fred Hahn Runs 6.364/226.05, Now #13; Best prior run: 14.794/65.95, Was #18
Right Lane: Rick Stivers Runs 6.618/216.13, Now #16; Best prior run: 9.482/94.97, Was #17

Current weather conditions: 70 degrees, 66 percent relative humidity, the barometer 30.19 inches, with a track temperature of 103 degrees.



Hahn shook the tire hard until about 200 feet, but he finally drove through it. Stivers finally gets it down the track.


Left Lane: Scott Ray Runs 6.250/222.69, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.271/223.02, Was #7
Right Lane: Rickie Smith Runs 7.304/139.23, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.255/224.25, Was #5

Ray drives trough tire shake to move into the top half of the show. Smith with a lot of tire shake and got out of the groove before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 6.278/222.91, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.263/223.69, Was #7
Right Lane: Mitch Stott Runs 6.244/226.89, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.245/227.73, Was #2

This was a good looking side by side drag race. Stott improves, but stays number two.

Left Lane: Zach Barklage Runs 6.592/211.83, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.448/213.81, Was #15
Right Lane: Mike Castellana Runs 7.261/138.66, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.253/223.99, Was #5

Castellana shook and was out of the groove and finally had to lift.

Left Lane: Dan Rowe Runs 6.285/220.01, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.329/218.34, Was #12
Right Lane: Troy Critchley Runs 6.291/223.10, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.329/223.43, Was #11

Rowe with his best pass of the weekend, but comes up short. Critchley with a nice looking pass straight dow the groove.

Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 6.210/229.86, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.249/226.58, Was #3
Right Lane: Thomas Patterson Runs 6.259/213.33, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.302/220.44, Was #12

Smith made a quick move toward the wall, but he stayed with it for the number one spot. That was not a perfect pass, but he did a great job of driving. Patterson with a big puff of smoke on the top end, but he gets in the show and that bumps out Harper.

Left Lane: Marty McGinnis Runs 6.645/217.88, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.439/217.35, Was #14
Right Lane: Wayne Torkelson Runs 6.471/219.40, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.781/164.23, Was #17

Torkelson shook and was out of the groove, he pedaled it one time and got it back into the groove. No help for McGinnis here.

Left Lane: Bill Hill Runs 10.422/76.38, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.478/129.89, Was #18
Right Lane: Billy Harper Runs 6.282/224.14, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.273/224.73, Was #9

Harper with a lot of tire shake right off the starting line and will not get in the show. Hill shook and got out of the groove and finally clicks it off.

Left Lane: Tim McAmis Runs 6.192/226.09, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.232/225.33, Was #2
Right Lane: Shannon Jenkins Runs 6.250/224.10, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.280/222.11, Was #10

McAmis with a great 0.998 60-foot time and then he blast into the teens for the number one spot. Jenkins with his best pass of the weekend to get in the top half of the show and that bumped out Ashley.
