It is Raining in Memphis
By Rick Green
Imagine this, it is raining at an NHRA National event! Five pairs into Top Fuel eliminations it
began to rain. It's not a hard rain, but it is consistent.
We had a brief delay for some
sprinkles after the third pair of cars, and then we ran two more pair before it started raining
hard enough for all the teams to return to the pits. The track is now wet enough that it will
take NHRA safety crews a couple of hours to get the track dried once it stops raining.
Here are the results of the first five pairs: Darrell Russell beat Scott Kalitta, Cory
McClenathan beat Scott Palmer, Larry Dixon beat Scott Weis, Kenny Bernstein beat Doug Herbert and
Clay Millican beat Paul Romine.
