Left Lane: Gary Densham Runs 4.138/291.45, Now #1; Best prior run: 10.820/88.13, Was #19
Right Lane: Jim Head Runs 6.317/101.62, Now #19; Best prior run: 11.372/65.23, Was #20
6:34 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 29.65 inches, adjusted altitude 2,289 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.
Head gets out of the groove early, drifts to the left, then goes up in smoke
about 200 feet out. Densham makes a great pass, right down the groove, and he takes the
top spot for now.

Not much to say about these runs, both right down the middle of the track. Arend moves into the fourth spot, Tasca into the seventh, for now.
Left Lane: Tony Bartone Runs 4.261/278.58, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.406/236.38, Was #19
Right Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 7.845/81.97, Now #19; Best prior run: 4.362/272.34, Was #18
Hagan gets about 100 feet out, starts rattling the tires and backs off the throttle. Bartone drifted out of the groove about 300 feet out, then started hazing the tires about 800 feet out.
Left Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.658/176.37, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.238/286.25, Was #16
Right Lane: Mike Neff Runs 4.113/297.42, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.261/278.52, Was #18
neff makes an impressive run here and goes all the way to the top spot. Worsham started skating around early in the run, gets about 600 feet out and clicks it off.
Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 7.434/81.23, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.214/286.19, Was #16
Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 4.372/216.41, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.203/286.13, Was #13
Cruz gets about 300 feet out, pedals a couple of times, then gives up on the run. Tony was on a decent pass, then loses traction about 700 feet out and gives up on the run.
Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 6.547/96.20, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.211/286.62, Was #15
Right Lane: Tommy Johnson Jr. Runs 4.167/296.50, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.186/287.29, Was #11
Capps gets about 300 feet out, strikes the tires and pedals, then gives up on the run. Johnson makes a good run, then has a small fire as he goes through the lights. The chutes don't come out but he is able to slow the car enough to make the corner at the end of the track.
Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.154/300.40, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.206/292.52, Was #14
Right Lane: Gary Scelzi Runs 4.134/293.73, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.178/290.44, Was #11
two good looking runs, side-by-side all the way down the track. Scelzi goes all the way to the second spot, Wilkerson into the fifth spot.
Left Lane: Jerry Toliver Runs 4.093/301.40, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.203/288.70, Was #13
Right Lane: Ashley Force Runs 4.079/298.87, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.168/286.38, Was #10
toliver makes a good run, his quickest since going to the 1000-foot format, and he moves all the way to the second spot. Force gets about 900 feet out, a couple of sparklers come out of the headers, but she still runs quick enough to take the top spot for now.
Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 4.117/302.28, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.177/292.33, Was #13
Right Lane: John Force Runs 4.105/300.26, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.163/289.51, Was #10
Another good side-by-side, both right down the groove, Force makes his quickest pass since going to 100 feet and he moves into the third spot. Troxel has the fastest run so far and gets in the field in the fifth spot.
Left Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.113/291.89, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.157/287.17, Was #10
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 4.122/285.95, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.150/291.82, Was #8
Hight and Beckman both make clean runs, but not what everyone was expecting. They do improve, Beckman to the fifth spot, Hight up a notch to seventh.
