Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #2

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 21st annual O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.322/176.49, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.336/175.11, Was #20
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.092/184.35, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.298/182.90, Was #19

5:42 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 37 percent, barometer 29.65 inches, adjusted altitude 2,398 feet, track temperature 97 degrees.

Tonglet stays in the groove and makes a big improvement from his first run. Harris improves slightly but still has a long way to go.


Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.057/187.83, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.252/184.22, Was #19
Right Lane: Angie McBride Runs 7.236/181.20, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.160/182.16, Was #15

Gann drifts to the right early in the run but gets it back in the groove and makes a decent pass. McBride with a clean run but not quick enough to get in the field.

Left Lane: David Hope Runs 7.180/184.32, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.185/181.67, Was #19
Right Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.155/183.22, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.147/182.80, Was #15

Hope makes a big move to the right, gets close to the centerline, but steers it back in the groove. No apparent problems for Guidera but he doesn't improve.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.042/187.03, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.169/181.08, Was #18
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.103/186.72, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.103/185.05, Was #13

Treble makes a clean run and gets into the field in the sixth spot for now. Berry matches his earlier run but drops a notch.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.029/188.25, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.168/182.90, Was #18
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.050/191.19, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.088/190.97, Was #12

Arana goes right down the middle of the track and makes a big improvement to move up to the third spot for now. Phillips improves and moves up to the eighth spot.

Left Lane: Junior Pippin Runs 7.133/183.42, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.137/180.74, Was #16
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.156/187.26, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.071/187.13, Was #12



Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.187/153.51, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.081/185.61, Was #13
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.076/185.92, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.055/186.85, Was #9

Sampey had a great run going, the best of the round to half-track, but the bike shuts down about 1100 feet out, not sure why. Johnson slows from his earlier pass.

Left Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 6.979/187.31, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.066/183.22, Was #11
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 7.002/190.19, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.037/187.81, Was #5

Rivas makes an impressive run, only the second sub-seven second pass of the day. Krawiec makes a decent pass and moves up to the third spot.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.987/187.91, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.038/184.22, Was #7
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.019/188.38, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.031/187.23, Was #6

Smith makes it three in the sixes and moves into the third spot. Stoffer improves but stays in the sixth spot.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.005/189.47, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.014/187.55, Was #5
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.014/186.07, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.982/186.98, Was #2

Ellis is one of the few to slow this round and he stays in the second spot. Hines improves a little but not enough to move up in the order.
