Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Session #2

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Inaugural NHRA Carolinas Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Al Moeser Runs 5.528/268.33, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.705/260.97, Was #11
Right Lane: Robin Samsel Runs 5.437/241.37, Now #3; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 85 degrees, relative humidity 68 percent, barometer 29.40 inches, adjusted altitude 3,270 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.

Samsel was unable to fire the car in the first session and a massive run here for them, Samsel moves all the way to #3. Moeser improves and he sets a career best ET and MPH.

Robin Samsel's incremental times: 60ft-0.973 sec., 330ft-2.465, 660ft-3.593/220.58mph, 1,000ft-4.564

Left Lane: Jackie Fricke Runs 5.910/226.16, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.648/243.99, Was #12
Right Lane: Arthur Gallant Runs 5.433/266.90, Now #3; Best prior run: 13.009/66.57, Was #14

Fricke is not able to improve from her earlier run. Gallant though he is on a great run, then the back end of the car starts to move around a bit at the top end, but Gallant still manages to go to number 3 on the sheet.

Arthur Gallant's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.508, 660ft-3.645/221.67mph, 1,000ft-4.603

Left Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 5.783/210.67, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.587/250.74, Was #11
Right Lane: Bob Weickgenannt Runs 5.917/183.87, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.057/223.06, Was #14

McPhillips launches hard but not able to improve as he started to lose cylinders as he made his way down the race track. Weickgenannat improves and would have been a lot quicker if his blower belt would have stayed on the supercharger.

Left Lane: Arthur Allen No Time, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.576/260.56, Was #9
Right Lane: Dave Weber Runs 5.575/256.45, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.589/255.82, Was #12

Allen completes his burnout but shuts it off after backing up. Weber shifts through the tire shake, and he moves up in the field with this pass, Weber moves into the 9th position on the ladder.

Dave Weber's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.486, 660ft-3.676/207.27mph, 1,000ft-4.702

Left Lane: John Finke Runs 5.795/228.31, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.515/258.47, Was #7

Finke looks good early but the pipes start to go wet as he gets further down the track.

Left Lane: Ken Perry Runs 5.434/260.61, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.486/258.57, Was #5
Right Lane: Travis Nicholson Runs 5.805/257.63, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.498/242.98, Was #6

These driver are respectfully 5 and 6 right now. Both are looking to move up. Well, Perry is able to acomplish that as he moves up one spot. Nicholson looked soft from the hit and his final ET showed it.

Ken Perry's incremental times: 60ft-0.933 sec., 330ft-2.414, 660ft-3.574/213.91mph, 1,000ft-4.577

Left Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.289/262.39, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.264/272.83, Was #1

Reichert will end this session on a single. Reichert launches hard and his car makes yet another great run, no improvement though and he remains #1 going into tomorrow.
