CONCORD, N.C. -- The NHRA race at zMax Dragway at Concord marks the second event this season that will see multiple Caterpillar dealer groups participate in the NHRA technician recruiting program. The David Powers-owned, Hot Rod Fuller-driven Caterpillar dragster will fly the logos of Carolina Tractor, Blanchard Machinery and Gregory Poole Equipment during the Inaugural NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMax Dragway, Sept 11-14. Florence-Darlington Technical College also will be involved in the team's activities during the weekend.

The relationship between David Powers Motorsports, Caterpillar and the Caterpillar Dealer Groups was designed as a pilot program to increase technician recruiting. Many Caterpillar dealers are experiencing a shortage of technicians, and after successful events in several NHRA markets during the 2007 season, DPM and Caterpillar inked a multiyear agreement last August to participate in the NHRA dealer recruitment program.

"There's a ton of excitement with our first visit to Charlotte, but having the support of three Caterpillar dealers to help welcome us to North Carolina feels great," Fuller said. "This should be a great event. We're excited to see the new facility at zMax Dragway and we want to put on a great show for all the fans and our CAT dealers and show them what real high-speed racing is all about."

Carolina Tractor, located in Charlotte, is in its 80th year of business and has 12 locations serving customer needs in heavy equipment, compact equipment, rental store, power generation, truck engine, and parts service.

Blanchard Machinery, headquartered in West Columbia, S.C., is the authorized Caterpillar dealer in South Carolina. Founded in 1982, Blanchard focuses on heavy equipment, compact equipment, power systems, truck and marine engines, forestry, recycling equipment, and rental stores. Blanchard operates 17 locations.

Gregory Poole Equipment Company, located in Raleigh, N.C., is Eastern North Carolina's Caterpillar dealer since 1951. Gregory Poole operates 14 facilities in North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina and employs more than 900.

Fuller enters the first race in the Countdown to the Championship ranked fifth in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel standings. The driver of the Caterpillar dragster has one victory this season, St. Louis. He also earned his seventh career pole at the Norwalk, Ohio race in June. ESPN2 will feature two hours of qualifying highlights from the Carolina NHRA Nationals at 4 p.m. (ET) on Sept. 13, and three hours of final eliminations coverage of the Charlotte NHRA race at 7 p.m. (ET) on Sept. 14.
