11:55 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 42 percent, barometer 29.24 inches, adjusted altitude 2,851 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.

This is WJ's 33rd US Nationals, more than any other driver in Pro Stock. Warren has won it six times, and needs to go to the final round today to make the last spot in the countdown for the championship. If he does not make the final round, Greg Stanfield will hold onto the final spot.

Connolly is the defending champ here at Indy, the starting line battle will likely be key here.

WJ rattled then shook hard enough the car started skating around. That was it, he lifted, and Greg Stanfield will take the final spot in the countdown. Nice pass for Connolly, he ran just .01 off his qualifying time.

Spiess is making his first start at the big go...

Spiess won the starting line battle, Edwards had pulled even by halfway, then legged it out to win by .009, or about three feet. Edwards will race Greg Anderson in the next round, and by .001 Edwards will have lane choice.

Line was dead late off the line, and Larry and wife Diane will have to wait awhile to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

Morgan will face Jones in the next round, and Jones will have lane choice.

Allen Johnson put a Mopar on the pole of Pro Stock for the 2nd year in a row, something that has never been done before. Considering some of the legendary teams in Mopar's history, (Sox & Martin come to mind) it's a bit of a surprise to find out. (Thanks Bob Frey).

Allen is competing in his 13th US Nationals, this is the first time he's competing from the #1 spot to win the big go, and it's the 2nd time in 2008 he's been number one at the start of eliminations.

Vinnie got a little on the line, but Allen passed him by the 330-foot markers.
