POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Competition Eliminator at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 43nd annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed this round, amount over/under index this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time, speed & over/under Index, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Randy Jones Runs 8.895/153.18/-0.445, Now #17; H/A Index: 9.34, Prior Best: 8.781/153.46/-0.559, Was #17

Ellis is still struggling with traction off the line and doesn't improve. Freeze slows too.

Hudlow's Lexus bangs hard at the end of the burn out and the car is pushed back behind the line. Ackerman continues to improve and moves into the top half of the field for now.

Deceglie is in an uncharacteristic 47th position in this last chance to qualify. He pushes hard and has to herd the Vette hard, as it makes a hard move towards the guard rail before the 330 lights. He reels it back in and does get into the field in the #22 spot. Kaplan had a 0.987 sixty foot time and then lost the blower belt before the 660 lights.

Mettler fires and falls back after a 1.087 sixty foot time. Patterson slows a little.

Bowdish's car moves out of the groove at the hit and he still picks up enough to take over the #3 spot. Clean pass for Rampy, but no improvement.

Butner was loaded for bear and the car made a hard move towards the centerline at 60 feet. He pulls it back and gives up, as there was no chance to improve from his #2 spot.

Lambeck will be the last to run and doesn't improve.

12:09 p.m. Jay Paine is #1 at -0.765 and Justin Lamb is on the bump spot at -0.520.
