Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Final Session

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Shayne Lawson Runs 17.729/47.01, Now #24; Best prior run: 8.469/100.14, Was #24

Lawson with violent tire shake right off the starting line and he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Paul Crifasi Runs 10.791/71.40, Now #23; Best prior run: 6.189/228.27, Was #23
Right Lane: Sean O'Bannon Runs 13.480/77.40, Now #25; Best prior run: 12.182/84.22, Was #25

O'Bannon was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Crifasi with a lot of tire shake right off the starting line and he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Steve Burck Runs 36.718/68.21, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.872/248.02, Was #18
Right Lane: Ron Morrison Runs 12.532/64.45, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.154/236.05, Was #22

Burck was up in smoke as soon and he launched...Morrison got off the starting line and then had a lot of tire shake.

Left Lane: Lee Callaway Runs 5.740/251.39, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.785/250.04, Was #15
Right Lane: John Patton Runs 5.835/248.98, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.067/192.14, Was #21

Callaway for the second time this weekend runs a career best and that will move him to the number 10 spot. Jackie Stidham is helping out Callaway this weekend.

Left Lane: Mike Bell Runs 5.859/245.36, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.779/250.00, Was #15
Right Lane: Alexis De Joria Runs 5.882/251.34, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.040/247.34, Was #21

DeJoria with her best pass of the weekend, but will not get into the show. Bell with another good pass and he should stay in the show.

Left Lane: Vern Moats Runs 5.769/250.32, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.777/250.18, Was #14
Right Lane: Nancy Matter Runs 5.814/250.37, Now #17; Best prior run: 5.981/244.78, Was #21

Moats with his best pass of the weekend, but will stay number 14. Matter with her best pass of the weekend and will come up just short of getting into the show.

Left Lane: Keeter Ray No Time, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.764/252.47, Was #13
Right Lane: Roger Bateman Runs 5.714/252.57, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.819/251.06, Was #18

Ray comes to a stop on the burnout and has problems and he gets out of the car and over the wall. Bateman launched hard and keep it hooked up all the way down the 1320 to go to the number nine spot. That will bump out Harker and put Mike Bell on the bump spot at 5.779.

Left Lane: Mick Snyder Runs 5.741/246.53, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.761/246.75, Was #13
Right Lane: Steve Harker Runs 5.641/256.26, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.811/249.81, Was #17

Weather conditions: air temperature 87 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 29.38 inches, adjusted altitude 2,748 feet, track temperature 128 degrees.

Snyder with his best pass of the weekend, but will stay number 13. Harker launched hard and keep it hooked up all the way down the 1320 to go to the number two spot. Steve Harker's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.516, 660ft-3.727/204.63mph, 1,000ft-4.764 That will bump out Bell and put Vern Moats on the bump spot at 5.769.

Left Lane: Clint Thompson Runs 13.069/87.83, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.753/252.76, Was #14
Right Lane: Cy Chesterman Runs 5.705/255.58, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.698/256.60, Was #8

Thompson shook hard off the starting line and clicked it off. Chesterman with another good looking pass, but will stay in the number eight spot for now.

Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 13.740/71.74, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.737/251.25, Was #11
Right Lane: Paul Anderson Runs 11.012/105.45, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.676/253.37, Was #6

Bellemeur with a lot tire shake right off the starting line, while Anderson gets off the starting line before he starts the tire shake.

Left Lane: Kebin Kinsley Runs 5.711/253.75, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.703/253.47, Was #9
Right Lane: Jay Payne Runs 5.629/250.88, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.667/255.34, Was #5

Payne launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-0.966 sec., 330ft-2.506, 660ft-3.710/206.67mph, 1,000ft-4.743 Kinsley with another nice pass.

Left Lane: Dennis Taylor Runs 5.889/201.01, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.691/254.86, Was #7
Right Lane: Jimmy Jones Runs 5.660/254.62, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.649/255.34, Was #5

Jones with another good clean pass...Taylor was on a good pass until just before the finish line when it bang the blower and sent the pressure relief panel into the air.

Left Lane: Von Smith Runs 5.643/255.29, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.634/254.90, Was #2

Smith with another good looking pass, but can't get the number one spot back from Payne. Payne with his 41st number one qualifying spot which is third most behind Manzo and Pat Austin.
