Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #3

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 22nd annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Doug Foley Runs 6.090/139.26, Now #20; Best prior run: 5.564/166.64, Was #20
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 4.637/316.52, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.645/286.13, Was #15

Weather conditions: air temperature 84 degrees, relative humidity 46 percent, barometer 29.49 inches, adjusted altitude 2,334 feet, track temperature 116 degrees.

Foley started to haze the tires just past the 330-foot mark and he will be down to one more shot to get into the show. McClenathan with a lot of clutch dust trailing his dragster, and he runs his quickest pass of the weekend. That was the good news, the bad news is he won't move up the qualifying ladder.


Left Lane: Hillary Will Runs 4.631/315.64, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.630/323.27, Was #14
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.684/299.33, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.608/322.19, Was #13

Will with her best pass of the weekend, but she will stay number 14. Schumacher crossed the finish line with a big cloud smoke.

Right Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 8.650/99.16, Now #19; Best prior run: 4.934/252.90, Was #19

Strasburg is up in smoke by 150 feet and he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 5.530/166.87, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.648/317.57, Was #16
Right Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 5.467/176.42, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.659/293.22, Was #17

The both started to haze the tires just past the half track and Millican lifted at that point. Herbert attempted to drive through the tire smoke with no luck...he is down to one last shot to get in the field.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 4.658/302.28, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.603/283.01, Was #12
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 8.953/99.27, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.581/325.06, Was #8

Lucas is blistering the Goodyears by the 330-foot mark...Grubnic is able to get it down the track under power and no tire smoke.

Left Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 4.586/326.56, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.595/300.46, Was #11
Right Lane: Joe Hartley Runs 11.191/86.16, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.557/329.58, Was #6

Bazemore with his best pass of the weekend and moved up the ladder one spot. Hartley's just never moved, it was a real strange pass.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.614/326.40, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.589/328.14, Was #11
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 5.821/153.02, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.553/323.89, Was #5

Vandergriff with just whisp of tire smoke right off the starting line, but drives right through it. A nice pass for the UPS dragster. Dixon started to smoke the tires around half track and shut it off.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.628/321.96, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.585/319.37, Was #9
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.695/318.47, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.546/328.70, Was #3

Bernstein with another good looking pass, straight down the groove. Kalitta with a good clean pass.

Left Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 4.721/287.84, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.577/323.81, Was #7
Right Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 5.091/206.86, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.545/331.94, Was #2

Troxel started to haze the tires around half track and clicked it off. Bradshaw started to lose traction right before the finish line and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 4.638/322.58, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.552/324.83, Was #4
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.675/312.42, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.541/318.47, Was #1

This was a real good drag race to wrap up the third qualifying session.
