Pro Modified Qualifying Notes, Session #2

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 22st annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Josh Hernandez Runs 6.121/234.37, Now #4; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Steve Engel Runs 6.137/240.12, Now #6; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 86 degrees, relative humidity 39 percent, barometer 29.35 inches, adjusted altitude 2,629 feet, track temperature 111 degrees.

Hernandez with a nice clean pass to get into the top half of the show. Engel with a good pass and big top end speed.


Left Lane: Shelly Payne Runs 6.131/233.84, Now #6; Best prior run: 8.076/124.17, Was #15
Right Lane: Scott Ray Runs 7.613/112.17, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.410/134.10, Was #14

Ray shook and was out of the groove and when he reeled it in it was completely side ways. He did a good job of saving that, got the chute out early. Payne with a nice pass to get into the top half of the field.

Left Lane: Mike Knowles No Time, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.268/229.78, Was #10
Right Lane: Troy Coughlin Runs 7.793/224.73, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.844/225.63, Was #14

Knowles got out of the groove and collected the half track cones and he will not get a time.

Left Lane: Rick Stivers Runs 6.111/235.80, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.179/234.74, Was #9
Right Lane: Raymond Vettel Runs 6.408/221.02, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.478/217.18, Was #12



Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 6.041/237.88, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.146/234.00, Was #9
Right Lane: Tony Pontieri Runs 6.158/233.52, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.324/230.10, Was #11

Pane with a great looking pass to go to the number one spot...Jay Payne's incremental times: 60ft-1.030 sec., 330ft-2.659, 660ft-3.970/188.38mph, 1,000ft-5.095

Left Lane: Tim Tindle Runs 6.051/236.51, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.099/234.82, Was #4
Right Lane: Raymond Commisso No Time, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.127/233.16, Was #7

Commisso broke after the burnout. Tindle with another good looking pass to slide into the number two position.

Left Lane: Harold Laird Runs 11.377/74.16, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.098/235.80, Was #4
Right Lane: John Russo Runs 6.145/226.35, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.074/238.76, Was #3

Laird with severe tire shake and made a quick move toward the wall before he clicked it off. Russo with a nice pass, but will stay number three.
