Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Luigi Novelli Runs 8.466/108.77, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.078/157.21, Was #17

Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 22 percent, barometer 29.92 inches, adjusted altitude 1,768 feet, track temperature 112 degrees.

Novelli is up in smoke by 150 feet and clicks it off.


Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 6.076/135.08, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.608/322.42, Was #12
Right Lane: Doug Foley Runs 5.216/184.12, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.925/213.16, Was #16

Kalitta was up in smoke by 400 feet and lifted. Foley got real loose and close to the centerline before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 6.209/130.34, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.589/317.12, Was #10
Right Lane: Hillary Will Runs 11.811/79.05, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.648/307.58, Was #15

Will was up in smoke as soon as she hit the throttle. Vandergriff was up in smoke b 330 feet.

Left Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 4.592/316.45, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.585/321.42, Was #9
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 11.035/83.94, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.624/318.17, Was #14

Grubnic was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. McClenathan with a little sash-say right off the starting line, but still has a real nice pass.

Left Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 5.283/178.17, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.583/321.81, Was #8
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 9.556/77.31, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.612/326.16, Was #13

Millican was up in smoke right off the starting line and shut it off. Fuller's engine went silent just past half track.

Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 4.575/321.96, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.583/322.81, Was #7
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.587/316.52, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.595/312.06, Was #11

Todd with a real nice pass until right before the finish line when it had some wacky header flames...he still runs his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves up to the number 10 spot. Troxel with a real nice pass her quickest of the weekend and she moves up one spot to the number six position. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.185, 660ft-3.112/274.50mph, 1,000ft-3.892
J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.842 sec., 330ft-2.177, 660ft-3.104/272.06mph, 1,000ft-3.893

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 4.726/310.20, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.582/320.28, Was #7
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.566/326.71, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.573/327.35, Was #5

Bernstein with a real nice looking pass as he moves up to the number two slot with his best pass of the weekend. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.174, 660ft-3.109/271.90mph, 1,000ft-3.889

I didn't see an problems for Lucas, but...

Left Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 4.576/320.20, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.569/313.44, Was #5
Right Lane: Whit Bazemore Runs 10.971/70.05, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.568/297.61, Was #4

Bazemore was up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off. Herbert with another nice clean pass, but will stay in the number five spot.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.564/313.73, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.565/325.45, Was #1
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 4.596/312.35, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.568/318.77, Was #3

This was a great drag race to wrap up Top Fuel qualifying. Schumacher with his quickest pass of the weekend and remains in the number one spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.158, 660ft-3.086/271.62mph, 1,000ft-3.872 Dixon with another nice looking pass, but will stay in the number three spot.
