Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Final Session

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 12.102/60.41, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.302/177.95, Was #21

2:49 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 22 percent, barometer 29.92 inches, adjusted altitude 1,768 feet, track temperature 112 degrees.

Ray's bike move around right off the line and he clicked it off.


Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.133/187.63, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.162/185.15, Was #18
Right Lane: Jim Randolph Runs 7.197/186.74, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.192/188.94, Was #20

Randolph got out of the groove early, drifted toward the center line, got the bike under control, but doesn't make the show. Phillips makes his quickest pass of the weekend to get in on the bump.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.247/187.50, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.160/187.60, Was #18
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.649/140.47, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.180/187.76, Was #19

Gann's bike was moving around early in the run and he doesn't make the show. DeSantis drifts out of the groove early and shuts down about 1000 feet out.

Left Lane: Barry Henson Runs 7.880/124.29, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.115/187.86, Was #15
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 6.996/192.49, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.137/187.76, Was #17

Scali goes right down the groove and gets in the top half of the field for now. Henson has problems late in the run and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.961/191.40, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.065/186.20, Was #14
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.065/188.20, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.072/187.44, Was #15

Smith finally gets the bugs worked out of his bike and makes a good pass to get well into the field. Berry with another consistent pass to stay in the 15th spot.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.061/189.23, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.015/190.11, Was #11
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.043/190.08, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.059/189.02, Was #14

A couple of decent looking passes, Stoffer improves, Arana doesn't, but they are both safely in the field.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 6.965/191.57, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.006/190.06, Was #10
Right Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.002/189.39, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.055/187.52, Was #14

Two more good looking runs, Brown gets in the top half of the field, Guidera moves up a few notches.

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.996/189.90, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.000/188.96, Was #10
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.061/191.00, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.029/190.27, Was #13

Krawiec wiggles around a little off the line, drifts to the right, then he steers it back into the groove. He makes his best pass of the weekend but doesn't move up on the ladder. No help for Johnson.

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 6.958/191.76, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.968/191.13, Was #6
Right Lane: Peggy Llewellyn Runs 6.955/191.35, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.992/190.65, Was #8

A great side-by-side run, both right down the groove. Sampey moves up a notch, Llewellyn moves all the way to the third spot.

Left Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 7.001/189.34, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.956/190.70, Was #4
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.007/191.24, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.989/192.49, Was #8

A couple of decent passes, no improvement for either rider.

Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 6.987/191.57, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.892/193.21, Was #1
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.959/191.92, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.915/192.99, Was #2

Ellis makes a decent pass but is a almost a tenth off his earlier pace, Hines about .04 off his earlier pass.
