Ray makes a
full pass here but still doesn't make the show.

Right Lane: Jim Randolph Runs 7.514/181.50, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.462/183.34, Was #21
Henson makes a good pass and gets in the show for now. No help for Randolph.
Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.162/185.15, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.253/183.39, Was #18
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.180/187.76, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.378/186.15, Was #20
The weather has improved a little and the times are dropping. Phillips shakes up the field along with DeSantis but the movement will probably continue throughout this session.

Gann goes right down the groove to get in the show. Stoffer just misses the cut.

Right Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.154/181.94, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.184/181.72, Was #16
Arana makes a move to the right early in the run but he gets it under control and gets into the top half of the field. Guidera gets off the bump.
Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 7.060/188.33, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.161/185.43, Was #13
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.157/183.15, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.175/181.91, Was #16
Krawiec goes straight down the groove this time around and moves into the top spot for now. Berry gets off the bump, Gann is now on the bump.
Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.095/184.83, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.150/183.02, Was #12
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.142/186.64, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.137/187.76, Was #11
It was announced a little earlier today, the Arny has decided to discontinue it's backing of the Team Army motorcycles. They will however continue sponsorship of the Army Top Fuel dragster.
Brown makes a pretty good run here to get into the top half of the field. Scali slows
and drops back a notch.

Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.187/185.18, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.131/179.83, Was #11
Sampey spun the tire a little off the line, drifted to the right, then had to back off the throttle just past half-track to avoid the center-line. No help for Johnson.
Left Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 7.056/186.98, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.118/184.50, Was #8
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.123/186.36, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.125/187.65, Was #9
...and the movement continues. Rivas stays in the groove and moves all the way to the top spot. Treble improves a little but doesn't move up on the ladder.
Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.068/185.92, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.065/186.20, Was #4
Right Lane: Peggy Llewellyn Runs 7.121/185.49, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.096/183.47, Was #7
The math has been done and if Smith leaves this race with at least a 139 point lead over the fifth place rider, he would clinch a spot in the countdown.
We saw a lot of improvement
early in this round but that has slowed a bit. Neither of these drivers improves but stay in the
top half of the field.

A couple of really good runs here, both bypassing the old track record of 7.048 set by Antron Brown last year. Ellis takes the top spot to end this session of qualifying, Gann remains on the bump.
