Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #1

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 20th annual O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Todd Hoerner Runs 6.895/202.15, Now #1
Right Lane: Bill Glidden Runs 16.771/47.66, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 87 degrees, relative humidity 59 percent, barometer 29.68 inches, adjusted altitude 2,395 feet, track temperature 117 degrees.

Hoerner making his Pro Stock debut...he driving one of Steve Schmidt car. He was real loose right off the starting line, but stayed with it for real nice opening pass. Glidden with problems right off the starting line.


Left Lane: Dave Northrop Runs 7.226/150.93, Now #3
Right Lane: Ben Watson Runs 6.804/202.00, Now #1

Northrop shut it off early. Watson with a nice clean pass.

Left Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.753/204.94, Now #1
Right Lane: Craig Hankinson Runs 6.775/204.08, Now #2

This was real nice pair to go to the number one and two spots. Steve Schmidt's incremental times: 60ft-1.012 sec., 330ft-2.836, 660ft-4.350/163.16mph, 1,000ft-5.654
Craig Hankinson's incremental times: 60ft-1.010 sec., 330ft-2.839, 660ft-4.359/162.41mph, 1,000ft-5.670

Left Lane: Tom Hammonds Runs 6.776/204.45, Now #4
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.729/204.63, Now #1

Hammonds made a quick move toward the centerline, but he reeled it in. Krisher with a nice pass. Ron Krisher's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.813, 660ft-4.326/163.12mph, 1,000ft-5.629

Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 6.762/203.92, Now #3
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.783/203.95, Now #6



Left Lane: Max Naylor Runs 6.761/203.86, Now #3
Right Lane: Kenny Koretsky Runs 6.790/203.61, Now #8



Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.749/204.39, Now #3
Right Lane: Jim Yates Runs 6.743/204.08, Now #2

These two were side by side all the way down the track. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-1.012 sec., 330ft-2.828, 660ft-4.342/163.12mph, 1,000ft-5.648

Left Lane: Richie Stevens Runs 6.740/204.05, Now #3
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.739/204.54, Now #2

Gaines with a nice pass to go to the number three spot and Stevens was just a tick behind.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.756/204.57, Now #8
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.711/205.22, Now #1

Morgan with a real nice pass to go to the number one spot. Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.806, 660ft-4.313/163.35mph, 1,000ft-5.614

Left Lane: Jason Line No Time, Now #20
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.748/204.73, Now #6

Line was shut off after the burnout, he was leaking some type of fluid. Coughlin with a good clean pass to get into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 16.956/47.41, Now #21
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.735/205.26, Now #3

Johnson was real loose right off the starting line, apparently he was leaking some fluid, too. Allen Johnson with a good clean pass to start the weekend. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.002 sec., 330ft-2.817, 660ft-4.334/162.67mph, 1,000ft-5.637

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.697/205.88, Now #1
Right Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 6.704/205.41, Now #2

Number one and two in the points and they show us why... with the two quickest passes of the first session. Anderson is just a tick off the track E.T. record and sets the track speed record. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.802, 660ft-4.307/163.95mph, 1,000ft-5.604
Dave Connolly's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.803, 660ft-4.309/163.63mph, 1,000ft-5.608
