Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #3

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Clarence Markham Runs 7.393/181.35, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.388/180.31, Was #21
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.130/184.30, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.187/183.39, Was #14

11:06 a.m. Brown broke after he left the line last and missed the chance to make a full pass in the night session. He makes up for it here, going right down the groove and moving into the top half of the field. No help for Markham.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.147/186.36, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.264/185.03, Was #19
Right Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 7.147/185.74, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.173/184.60, Was #12

Johnson's performance picks up and he gets in the show for now. Schnitz improves and moves up a few notches. Lewis was just bumped out, Ellis is now on the bump.

Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.132/183.17, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.194/183.27, Was #16
Right Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.234/184.07, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.392/171.73, Was #22

Ellis didn't stay on the bump for long, going right down the groove to move into the top half of the field. Camarena improves but still has some work to do to get in the show.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 10.360/81.73, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.228/183.24, Was #19

Berry left the line, then the bike lost power about 400 feet out.

Left Lane: Scott Lewis Runs 7.590/140.53, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.201/184.85, Was #17
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.151/188.10, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.205/187.42, Was #18

Lewis was on a decent pass but his bike lost power about 1000 feet out. Scali gets in the show, bumping out Phillips. Tom Bradford is on the bump spot at 7.178.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.169/187.21, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.180/188.02, Was #17
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.156/183.97, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.161/185.92, Was #14

Phillips was just bumped out and will have to run better than 7.187 to get back in the show. He does that and a little more to get in the 15th spot. Stoffer improves a little and moves up a notch to 13th. Bradford is on the outside now, Andreano is on the bump.

Left Lane: Tom Bradford Runs 7.202/186.87, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.178/185.97, Was #17
Right Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 7.152/184.83, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.158/184.85, Was #14

Bradford makes a clean pass but just not quick enough to get back in the show. Rivas improves just enough to move up a notch in the order.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.107/183.19, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.136/176.28, Was #7
Right Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.137/184.52, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.152/185.03, Was #12

Smith makes a great pass here and moves all the way up to the second spot. Tonglet improves and just gets in the top half of the field. Marco Andreano is on the bump spot at 7.169.

Left Lane: Marco Andreano Runs 7.166/183.69, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.169/184.50, Was #16
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.107/187.23, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.128/185.10, Was #5

Andreano gets a little breathing room, improving just enough to get off the bump. Sampey equals Matt Smith's run, but runs faster to jump ahead of him in the order.

Left Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.113/184.67, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.138/184.04, Was #9
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.090/188.12, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.120/186.87, Was #5

The improvements continue, Gann goes right down the groove and takes over the top spot, Guidera gets in the top half of the field in the fifth spot. Michael Phillips is on the bump spot at 7.169.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.280/180.79, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.102/187.13, Was #2
Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.143/187.50, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.117/189.23, Was #6

Hines was on a decent pass, then the engine started popping about 1000 feet out. Treble makes a decent pass but doesn't improve. That ends this session, Gann is on the pole and Michael Phillips is on the bump spot at 7.169.
