Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Rob Passey Runs 10.246/73.36, Now #1

Passey lost traction by 100 feet and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 4.994/297.88, Now #2
Right Lane: Joe Hartley Runs 4.633/323.66, Now #1

Hartley launched hard and keep the Goodyears hooked up all the way down the 1320. Joe Hartley's incremental times: 60ft-0.889 sec., 330ft-2.224, 660ft-3.165/269.03mph, 1,000ft-3.951 Chrisman slowed on the top end.

Left Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 7.341/116.91, Now #4
Right Lane: Scott Palmer Runs 5.585/171.36, Now #3

Strasburg started to lose traction and then the engine let go. Palmer was on a good looking pass until around 1100 feet and the engine let go with a big fireball.

Left Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 4.692/309.70, Now #3
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.689/311.05, Now #2

This was a good looking drag race with both cars straight down Broadway. Apparently something coming off Millican's car as the Safety Safari rolls.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 6.588/123.98, Now #7
Right Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 4.585/322.04, Now #1

Vandergriff shut it off around 400 feet. Herbert with a real nice pass to start the weekend. Doug Herbert's incremental times: 60ft-0.878 sec., 330ft-2.202, 660ft-3.126/273.61mph, 1,000ft-3.904

Left Lane: David Baca Runs 4.759/316.38, Now #6
Right Lane: Hillary Will Runs 4.561/321.27, Now #1

Baca drew the lucky bottle of Budweiser last night to get him into the Budweiser Shootout. Baca with a nice pass. Will launched hard and was straight down Broadway for the number one spot. Hillary Will's incremental times: 60ft-0.872 sec., 330ft-2.177, 660ft-3.095/274.00mph, 1,000ft-3.875.

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.624/318.24, Now #3
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 8.606/80.46, Now #12

Cory Mac started to lose traction and pedaled it one time and was back up in smoke, and clicked it off. Todd with a real nice looking pass until right before the lights when he had a little wiggle.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 9.331/95.01, Now #14
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 4.603/329.42, Now #3

Lucas started to smoke the tires around 400 feet and clicked it off. Dixon with a good clean pass to get into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 10.509/83.88, Now #17
Right Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 4.584/327.66, Now #2

Grubnic is up in smoke by 200 feet and clicks it off. Fuller launched hard and blasted on through for the number two spot. Rod Fuller's incremental times: 60ft-0.878 sec., 330ft-2.200, 660ft-3.131/271.30mph, 1,000ft-3.910

Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 4.574/327.43, Now #3
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.523/328.06, Now #1

Teammates here and couple great looking runs here for the number one and three spots. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.868 sec., 330ft-2.188, 660ft-3.115/272.61mph, 1,000ft-3.897
Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.089/276.07mph, 1,000ft-3.857

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 8.146/91.84, Now #17
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.555/326.79, Now #2

Bernstein is up in smoke early and off the throttle. Kalitta with the Von Dutch Mac Tools dragster this weekend. The car is yellow, and the team has baby blue team shirts. Kalitta with a grat pass to slide in right behind Schumacher.
