Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #2

LAS VEGAS - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Sixth annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Freddie Camarena Runs 7.392/171.73, Now #20; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Clarence Markham Runs 7.388/180.31, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.561/177.25, Was #20

5:49 p.m. Camarena was DQ'd at the scales in the first round. He makes a clean run here but not quick enough to get in the show. Markham improves but not enough.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.161/185.92, Now #6; Best prior run: 11.714/68.11, Was #22
Right Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.228/183.24, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.338/182.87, Was #18

Stoffer makes a big improvement and gets well into the field in the sixth spot. Berry improves and gets in the show for now.

Left Lane: Connie Cohen Runs 7.365/172.81, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.410/180.26, Was #22
Right Lane: Scott Lewis Runs 7.201/184.85, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.318/179.73, Was #19

Cohen makes a hard move to the right off the line, then she gets it under control and steers it back to the center of the track. Lewis goes right down the groove and gets in the show for now.

Left Lane: GT Tonglet Runs 7.152/185.03, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.256/182.11, Was #17
Right Lane: Marco Andreano Runs 7.169/184.50, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.278/180.77, Was #19

A couple of decent passes, both get in the show, bumping out Berry and Rivas. Scali is now on the bump.

Left Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 7.158/184.85, Now #7; Best prior run: 7.231/183.07, Was #18
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.380/183.54, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.264/185.03, Was #19

Johnson gets out of the groove early and has to lean hard to the left to keep it under control. Rivas goes right down the groove and gets back in the show in the seventh spot, bumping out Scali. Lewis is now on the bump.

Left Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.205/187.42, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.223/186.61, Was #17
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.251/181.81, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.194/183.27, Was #15

Scali needs a 7.201 to get back in the show.....but he doesn't quite make it. Ellis slows from his earlier pass and stays in the 15th spot.

Left Lane: Antron Brown No Time, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.187/183.39, Was #13
Right Lane: Tom Bradford Runs 7.178/185.97, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.190/185.82, Was #14

Brown breaks about 250 feet out and coast down the track. He comes to a stop before reaching the finish-line and receives no time for this run. Bradford improves and moves up a couple of notches to the 12th spot.

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.128/185.10, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.177/183.17, Was #11
Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.180/188.02, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.185/186.77, Was #13

Sampey drifted to the right all the way down the track, getting very close to the center-line just as she went through the lights, but she stays on the throttle all the way through and moves all the way to the second spot. Phillips makes a decent pass and stays in the 13th spot.

Left Lane: Ryan Schnitz Runs 9.955/84.49, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.173/184.60, Was #11
Right Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.138/184.04, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.149/183.67, Was #5

Schnitz has problems late in the run and clicks it off early. Guidera goes right down the groove and moves up a notch to fourth.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.117/189.23, Now #2; Best prior run: 7.150/188.20, Was #6
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.176/185.69, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.136/176.28, Was #3

Treble improves and moves into the second spot. Smith makes a decent pass but slows a little from his earlier run.

Left Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.120/186.87, Now #3; Best prior run: 7.142/185.61, Was #6
Right Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.131/184.95, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.102/187.13, Was #1

Gann makes a decent pass and runs the second quickest pass of the round, just behind Treble's run earlier. Hines slows but stays in the top spot.
