2:51 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 14 percent, barometer 30.34 inches, track temperature 101 degrees.

We are having problems with the weather station so we are depending on the on-line weather services for data.

Markham is making his first appearance of the year.

Left Lane: Scott Lewis Runs 7.318/179.73, Now #1
Right Lane: Connie Cohen Runs 7.410/180.26, Now #3

Cohen just returned from the Harley event in Rockingham two weeks ago where she scored a victory. Lewis makes a decent pass and gets the early pole.

Left Lane: Marco Andreano Runs 7.278/180.77, Now #3

Not much too say about these early runs, the altitude and the weather will probably prohibit any really quick runs.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.185/186.77, Now #3

Bradford drifts a little to the right but hangs on to get in the sixth spot for now. Schnitz gets in the fourth spot for now.

Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.136/176.28, Now #1
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 11.714/68.11, Now #18

Stoffer had problems early in the run and clicked it off about 300 feet out. Smith goes right down the groove and gets in the top spot for now.

Left Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.194/183.27, Now #9
Right Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.177/183.17, Now #6

No apparent problems on either pass, just not quick enough.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.102/187.13, Now #1
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 7.187/183.39, Now #9

Hines makes a great pass here and gets the pole after this first round of qualifying. Brown and the Army team appear to have a lot of work ahead of them.
